We are currently searching for a Server to join our Visitor Center team who will be responsible for delivering exceptionally high standards of customer service, educating visitors about our wines, our winery and the Carneros district, signing up new members to the wine club, and assisting visitors in the selection and purchase of our wines and product. The ideal candidate will have an in depth understanding of our winemaking process that produces our exceptional wines. Additionally, they will possess the ability to present and explain our wines to our guests in a way that resonates with them and enhances their overall experience.

HOURS:

We have two openings. Each opening is scheduled for 3 days per week as follows:

1st opening: Thursday, Saturday , and Sunday
2nd opening: Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday

PAY:

While our base wage is minimal, given our generous incentive plan and tip earning potential, this position can typically earn an extra $35.00-$120.00 per hour.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for warmly greeting guest and providing exceptional customer service throughout the guest's experience.
Communicates proactively with the Bussing staff and Management team to ensure an effective workflow that contributes to the highest standards of service for guests.
Continually enhances knowledge of company wines and their distinct flavors and winemaking processes in order to educate guest on product accurately and confidently; builds rapport with guest through conversation about wine, winemaking, and the Napa and Carneros region.
Deliver exceptional customer service while orchestrating wine pairing experiences.
Utilizes excellent sales skills to encourage wine sales and achieve sales expectations; informs visitors about shipping options to help facilitate their purchase
Promotes membership benefits in the Chateau Society in effort to upsell membership level hierarchy and maintain club sign up expectations.
Understand and adhere to all Alcohol Beverage Commission regulations for wine sales and service.
Recognize and escalate inappropriate or unruly guest behavior to the Visitor Center Management Team.
Maintain tasting area, service bar, kitchen area, and other venues in a manner appropriate to the image of Domaine Carneros “Chateau Style”.
Assist with winery special event which may include event set-up, breakdown, and clean up, food and beverage service, bussing, washing and polishing of glasses, etc.
May assist in serving, stocking wine, glassware, inventory activities, bussing tables or other duties necessary for the Visitor Center as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work conditions in certain areas of the winery and Visitor Center are cold, wet, slippery and/or noisy. Frequent walking, including over uneven ground is required. Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and bend, lift, twist, kneel, pull, push, carry, grasp, reach and stoop as needed, sometimes for extended periods, and to occasionally lift and carry heavy items up to 40 pounds (may be aided).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 1 year prior experience serving wine in a fast paced, high volume winery or luxury hospitality setting
Ability to portray a warm and welcoming demeanor, even under stress and in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal communications skills; Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus
Ability to deter conflict during a difficult or emotional customer situation, applying courtesy and empathy as necessary
Excellent interpersonal skills enabling professional and effective interaction with guest and co-workers
Excellent attention to detail with a strong ability to multitask and manage multiple requests simultaneously
Ability to handle high volume workload and prioritize effectively
Knowledge of wines, winemaking, and Napa and Sonoma areas
Ability to work a schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and evenings as necessary
Must be 21 years of age or older
Clean and professional appearance in compliance to the Company dress code
Intermediate computer skills; experience navigating through and understanding POS systems
Must complete responsible beverage service training upon hire and complete certification process within 30 days from hire, and maintain valid cert
