Description:
The Spottswoode Estate Host plays a key role as a member of the sales team in reaching their sales goals by offering an exceptional visitor experience for guests on-site. As a front-facing representative for visitors to Spottswoode, the Host must be high-touch and service-driven, with an authentic passion for wine and hospitality. They should operate with a consistently professional demeanor, possess exceptional communication skills, and be able to anticipate the needs of guests. They need to have a natural aptitude for luxury hospitality and prioritize guest recognition to create a memorable experience. A team-centric, collaborative attitude and exceptional speaking skills are essential.
Reporting:
- Directly to Guest Experience Manager
- Approximately two days per week
Responsibilities:
Include, but are not limited to:
• Hospitality/Guest Experience:
- Offer an informative and authentic tasting experience, while employing effective selling techniques to meet monthly sales goals
- Graciously welcome unexpected visitors and accommodate a modified experience to acquire new customers, as appropriate
- Set-up tasting before tours: placemats, glasses, order forms, pens, newsletters, etc.
- Coordinate, open, and evaluate daily wine needs for all scheduled tastings with other hosts
- Invoice all orders through the POS system (Lavu) and Cultivate Systems
- Accurately record guest information in Cultivate and Salesforce CRM in a timely manner
- Keep the tasting spaces clean and organized and maintain all entryways and guest spaces (reception area, tasting room, conference room, bathrooms, etc.)
- Encourage and complete on-site wine sales
- Prepare wine orders for tasting room guests
- Clean up tasting areas: clear table, load dishwasher, reset for next tasting as needed
- Polish clean glasses promptly to maintain their quality
- Follow up with visitors (e.g., personalized thank you notes) to build their long-term relationship with Spottswoode
- Accommodate VIP guests and trade visitors, as needed
- Greet drop-ins with the intent of adding them to the mailing list. Offer a tasting based on open wine, timing, etc.
• Referral:
In conjunction with the Sales Team
- Work with the onsite Sales Team to build a strong referral network
- Host referral partners and industry peers, as needed
- Accommodate referral guests and trade guests, as needed
• General Office Support
- Assist with incoming calls
- Greet and assist all guests
- Assist with wine pick-ups (inter-winery, customers, & donations)
• Events/Other
- Work with the Events Manager to set-up, execute, and break down events hosted on-site for DTC guests or trade partners, as needed.
- Participate in the annual Garden Party
- Participate in Spottswoode’s annual Vertical Tasting, educational staff tastings, Harvest Celebrations, and company retreats, etc., which may fall outside of normal
business hours
