Job Description:

Position Summary:
The Human Resources (HR) Director will lead and manage all aspects of the HR function for Mesa Vineyard Management and all its entities, overseeing HR strategy and day-to-day operations. This position will be responsible for employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, payroll oversight, performance management, training, and compliance. In addition, this role will manage company-wide Health & Safety programs and oversee office management and reception at the headquarters. The HR Director will act as a strategic partner to the leadership team while ensuring that HR policies and practices support the company’s culture, values, and business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources Leadership
•  Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team on HR-related matters.
•  Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with business objectives.
•  Oversee recruitment efforts including workforce planning, job postings, sourcing, interviews, and onboarding.
•  Manage all employee benefits, including health & welfare and retirement plans, in partnership with third-party administrators and insurance broker(s).
•  Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and performance improvement plans.
•  Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with wage and hour laws (in partnership with payroll provider).
•  Design, develop and administer compensation programs, employee benefits, and open enrollment processes.
•  Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and maintain up-to-date HR policies and handbook.
•  Develop and deliver training and development programs to enhance employee skills and leadership capabilities.
•  Oversee the compliant administration of leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, WC), including coordination with third-party administrators.
Health & Safety
•  Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety programs across the organization, in coordination with external vendor.
•  Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA and other regulatory bodies.
•  Coordinate safety training programs, inspections, and audits.
•  Oversee the prompt and thorough investigation of workplace incidents and ensure compliant administration and coordination of incident reporting, corrective actions, and workers’ compensation claims.
•  Partner with field and operations leadership to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Office Management & Reception Oversight
•  Oversee the day-to-day operations of the headquarters office.
•  Supervise administrative staff, including reception, and ensure front office coverage and professionalism.
•  Oversee the efficient and effective coordination of office services including supplies, equipment, maintenance, and vendor relationships.
•  Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming office environment for staff and visitors.
Qualifications:
•  Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree or HR certification preferred).
•  Minimum 7–10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
•  Experience in agriculture, construction or manufacturing, or a similar environment strongly preferred.
•  Bilingual English and Spanish languages (written and verbal) required.
•  Strong knowledge of California labor laws and HR best practices.
•  Proven experience managing safety and workers’ compensation programs.
•  Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•  Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
•  Proficient in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and payroll/timekeeping/benefits platforms (ADP and/or AgCode a plus) including experience implementing various models of HRIS.
