About the role

Reporting to the Senior Winemaker/GM, this Winemaker role is responsible for organizing and directing winemaking for the Frank Family brands and is expected to meet all wine production and quality goals within each style.

Key Responsibilities

Technical

In conjunction with the Senior Winemaker, this role will organize and direct winemaking activities, on or off site, FFV to include

* scheduling of grape harvest
* cellar workload management
* lead and participate of all wine gradings and allocation after harvest
* wine movements
* developing blends
* fining, filtration, and bottling prep
* Understand, adherence and lead the team to produce wines according to wine style
* Collaborate with grower relations and vineyard management team to ensure grapes are grown in conformance with expectations and to authorize vineyard releases for harvest as well as making picking decision based on analysis and grape tasting
* Collaborate with FFV Senior Winemaker and winemaking team to produce wines at FFV that meet quality and stylistic goals for the FFV brand
* Work Order preparation and compliance management
* Sanitation management
* Lab analysis and quality standards management
* Regulatory review and management

Business
* Participate in the Supply Planning Process to ensure that bottling quantities are correctly prepared and meet target costs. Maintain and manage bulk inventory
* Communicate cross functionally with winery staff to drive efficiency, quality and compliance with business standards. Assist with HACCP and governance initiatives as required
* Assist with the preparation of and effective management of the annual winery budget; keep COGS aligned with plan
* Assist marketing and sales in promoting FFV wines. Communicate brand messages as provided by marketing and GM/Sr Winemaker
* Assist in development of cellar and capital budgets.

Leadership
* Role model safety and compliance behaviors. Support cross-functional teams within FFV winery. Look out for team morale, celebrate success
* Supervise and mentor assistant winemaker or enologist and cellar staff for advancement within the business and achievement of business goals. Drive skills development agenda

About you
* BA, BS or higher in Enology or related field, with complete technical knowledge of all winemaking practices
* Minimum 5 years' experience in managing and representing premium/super premium brands
* Demonstrated experience in developing high quality wine brands
* Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience communicating with large and small groups
* Strong interpersonal/people skills
* Usage of databases and office software
* Proven ability to lead teams, strong personnel management skills
* Experience in communicating with various types of media
* Capable of domestic travel, must hold valid CA driver's license with good driving record
* Must be capable of lifting 40 lbs. and pass a lift test

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $103,000 to $120,500 per year. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of the Calistoga CA area. If the incumbent works out of another location, the wage rate may fall above or below this range. Treasury reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
