2024 Harvest Internship

Hidden away in the Alexander Valley, Medlock Ames is getting ready for its 26th harvest this year and we want you to be a part of the team! We have been farming since 1998 and we are certified Organic and Regenerative Organic. Sustainability and caring for the land and the planet are the core of everything that we do. We produce high quality single varietal Bordeaux wines, Chardonnay and Sparkling all from our 47-acre estate property.

We are seeking passionate and motivated interns to join our small team for harvest. You will be hands on in all facets of winemaking and will work closely with the winemaking team. Previous experience is encouraged but we are willing to train the right candidates. This is a great opportunity to learn more about organic grape growing and small lot winemaking.

This position would start sometime in August and run through to November depending on the season. Flexibility with dates is possible but you must be available for majority of the time. This position will require some overtime, generally 6 days a week and up to 12 hours shifts during the peak of harvest.

You will ideally be dependable, organized, detail oriented and have a positive attitude. You enjoy working individually and as part of a team. Sense of humor is encouraged.

Responsibilities, skills, and abilities:
•  Pump overs and punch downs
•  Wine transfers
•  Forklift Driving (experience preferred)
•  Sorting grapes
•  Assist with bottling
•  Cleaning and sanitation
•  Following and completing very specific work orders
•  Racking and blending
•  Barrel steaming and filling
•  Ability to lift up to 50lbs
•  Ability to climb ladders and work in high spaces
•  Work with chemicals - all PPE and training provided
•  Ability to read, write and speak English
•  Strong attention to detail and commitment to a high standard of work
•  Minimal use of high-powered equipment
•  Additions to tanks and barrels
•  Ability to work in cold and hot temperatures
