"Wetzel Estate Winery is located near Dallas Oregon, inside the Van Duzer Corridor AVA. Wetzel Estate was first planted in 1990 and grows many of the Classic Oregon varieties like Pinot noir and Chardonnay. We produce a variety of wines from vineyards all around Oregon for our labels as well as producing wines for custom crush clients. Wetzel Estate also produces traditional method sparkling wines in house, complimenting our diverse still wine program.

This position is for a laboratory and cellar internship with Wetzel Estate. You will work closely with the Winemakers and Cellar master to produce, track, maintain, and finish wines. This is a unique opportunity for you to learn more about the winemaking process and be involved in depth. Duties will include:
Running routine laboratory analysis such as SO2, volatile acidity, alcohol, and pH
Tracking and reporting results to the Winemakers and Cellar Master
Assisting the cellar master with making additions to wine
Performing routine wine maintenance such as topping and head spacing tanks
Performing general cellar activities such as transfers and filtrations
Assisting with maintenance of equipment and facilities
Cleaning and winery upkeep
Join in cellar tastings
All harvest activities including, crushing, pressing, punch downs etc.
Occasional special projects and other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will be motivated to learn, have strong communication skills, have experience in a chemistry laboratory, and an interest in wine. The following skills are preferred but not required for applicants:

1 or more harvests
Forklift experience
A degree or certificate in enology
Some Spanish language skills
