Position: Tasting Room Manager
Reporting Relationships:
Tasting Room Manager reports to the Director of Retail Operations
Tasting Room Staff report to the Tasting Room Manager
Works along side and in conjunction with the Wine Club Manager and Farm Shop Manager
Overarching Responsibilities:
The Durant Vineyards Tasting Room Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the tasting room, ensuring back and front of house functions are tended to in an efficient and timely manner. The Tasting Room Manager is also responsible for ensuring that customer facing operations are tidy and that customer experiences are excellent for all. The Tasting room manager is expected to work directly with customers, selling Durant Vineyards wine and olive oils, as well as promoting the Durant Club in a sincere and genuine manner. The Tasting Room Manager will work directly with the Director of Retail Operations to provide the best customer experience possible. Collaboration on selling techniques, events, training, hiring, and retention of the best employees is critical.
Specific Responsibilities:
Administrative:
Scheduling of tasting room staff
Coordinate requested time off by staff
Processing payroll on a bi-weekly basis
Track tips and allocate to payroll
Monitor inventory levels and submit wine pull orders. Order wine as needed to maintain wholesale and event allocations.
Order and stock tasting room accessories/soft goods for sale, working with Director of Retail Operations
Quarterly expenses projections in conjunction with the Director of Retail Operations
Hiring and evaluations in conjunction with the Director of Retail Operations
Customer Service:
Responsible for all day-to-day floor/front of the house operations.
Serve as primary customer contact; responds to appointment and order requests, customer complaints and suggestions.
Work in conjunction with the Director of Retail Operations to identify promotions and other sales opportunities that engage and enhance the customer experience.
Promote and sell the Durant club to customers.
Model, train, and provide feedback on high level – best in class customer service.
Engage with existing club members to ensure member retention
Provide elevated property tours and tastings, and train qualified personnel to do the same.
Check general email account and respond as needed.
Collaborate with the Director of Retail Operations on new and innovative events that support brand awareness and vision.
Oversee wine shipping, internal and external.
Keep booking system and POS system up to date with products, events and experiences
Work closely with Wine Club Manager prior, during, and after club processing to ensure a seamless, positive member experience.
Qualifications:
Must be a positive role model and ambassador for Durant Vineyards and Durant Olive Mill in the wine/hospitality industry and community.
Minimum three years prior experience and proven track record of sales, hospitality, and marketing.
Effective understanding and teaching abilities of wine education - for both customers and staff.
Passion for hospitality with clear proficiency in consultative customer service.
Must demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to be a creative, flexible, and innovative team player displaying a positive attitude and professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
Demonstration of a strong sense of organization and attention to detail.
Self-motivated to generate and act on plans and resolve problems.
Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and frequently.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to work weekends, evening events, holiday weekends.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
A reputation for a strong work ethic, as expressed in a sense of responsibility, reliability, and responsiveness.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Must have ability to analyze and report on sales information.
Advanced POS and cash handling.
Current OLCC permit.
Current food handlers permit.
