Job Description:

Rutherford Ranch Winery is seeking an experienced, hands-on Bottling and Warehouse Supervisor to oversee bottling operations, warehouse activities, shipping and receiving, and inventory control. This position is responsible for supervising bottling staff, coordinating production schedules, maintaining equipment readiness, improving production efficiency and quality, and ensuring the safe and accurate movement and storage of wine and materials. The successful candidate will combine strong mechanical aptitude, organizational skills, and attention to detail with the ability to lead staff and actively participate in daily bottling and warehouse operations.

Essential Functions and Duties

Bottling Operations and Supervision
•  Plan and coordinate bottling production schedules, staffing, and daily activities to meet production requirements.
•  Schedule, supervise, and train bottling staff; evaluate performance and provide direction to maintain productivity, quality, and safe work practices.
•  Perform and direct changeovers of bottling equipment, including selecting, organizing, installing, and adjusting the appropriate change parts for each wine, brand, and packaging format.
•  Ensure all change parts are clean, properly maintained, organized, and in good working condition.
•  Ensure the correct bills of materials and packaging components are used for each wine and bottling run.
•  Understand the operation of all bottling line machinery, recognize improperly adjusted components, troubleshoot operating issues, and make necessary equipment adjustments.
•  Read and follow equipment manuals, documented operating procedures, and machine lubrication and maintenance schedules.
•  Provide clear written descriptions of equipment malfunctions and coordinate necessary repairs and corrective actions.
•  Follow and enforce sanitation and sterilization procedures for bottling equipment.
•  Inspect production and finished case goods for adherence to packaging specifications, document inspection results, and take corrective action to maintain quality standards.
•  Monitor production performance, efficiency, downtime, and quality; identify and implement improvements.
•  Follow and enforce safety rules and safe equipment operating practices and assist with safety and employee training programs.

Warehouse, Shipping, Receiving, and Inventory
•  Monitor finished goods levels at the winery and schedule and expedite product movements to and from internal and external warehouses.
•  Manage finished goods and dry goods inventories safely and efficiently within warehouse space and capacity limits.
•  Oversee and perform daily shipping and receiving of wine, packaging materials, and other supplies, verifying quantities and maintaining accurate records.
•  Prepare bills of lading and other shipping, receiving, and inventory transfer documentation.
•  Communicate with trucking companies, distributors, and warehouse partners to schedule timely product pickups, deliveries, and transfers.
•  Operate powered forklifts to move wine and materials throughout production and warehouse areas and to load and unload trucks.
•  Maintain the accuracy and integrity of finished goods inventory, including documenting inventory movements and researching and resolving discrepancies involving finished and unfinished wines.
•  Maintain an appropriate in-house inventory of wine to support retail sales.
•  Keep warehouse and production storage areas organized, accessible, and safe.
•  Provide inventory research and support for special projects as directed.

Qualifications

Essential Skills, Experience, and Education
•  Minimum of two years of bottling line experience required, including experience with bottling sanitation and sterilization.
•  Two years of maintenance experience preferred.
•  Experience operating electric or gas-powered forklifts required.
•  Ability to read and understand equipment, machine parts manuals, and follow machine lubrication and maintenance schedules.
•  Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
•  Basic mathematical skills and the ability to maintain accurate production and inventory records.
•  Strong organizational skills, reliability, and attention to detail.
•  Ability to supervise staff, coordinate daily priorities, and work effectively with other departments.
•  Willingness and ability to learn and use computer systems for production, inventory control, shipping, and receiving.

Physical and Scheduling Requirements

Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
•  Lift and carry 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
•  Stand for extended periods.
•  Stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend regularly.
•  Work extended shifts of more than eight hours as production and shipping needs require.
