Positions Available: We are looking for up to four part-time hosts to guide our visitors through tasting room and/or vineyard visits at either our vineyard location (“upValley”, north of St Helena) or at our alternate tasting room option which is closer to the city of Napa. The ideal candidates will be very flexible and often available with only a few days notice.
These Winery Guest Hosts will deliver a fun, educational and personalized tasting experience with great service, while staying on brand and building a relationship with our guests. They will also be results-driven and sales-motivated, with a goal of driving wine sales and wine club sign-ups within a fantastic tasting experience.. The successful candidate for this position will be flexible, results-driven, very wine knowledgeable and adaptable. They will also already be somewhat proficient in winery POS software, to include creating online reservations and processing sales and shipping orders, and be able to complete those tasks accurately and without error.
About Us
We produce small lots of estate-grown Bordeaux varietal wines from our well-established estate vineyards, and our clientele are both long-time, return clients and wine club members and those who are new and seek out the smaller, more boutique names in Napa Valley for their visits. We are by appointment only, but do accept next-day and same-day appointments if we can accommodate. (This is where our ideal Hosts come in!) We have one tasting room location at our vineyard site at the North end of Napa Valley and another at our alternate tasting room closer to the town of Napa.
Required Duties & Host Responsibilities
1. Consistently offer a fun, educational and memorable hospitality experience that aligns with our winery brand and story. This may include a vineyard walk or a seated tasting or a combination of both.
2. Drive sales and wine club signups via your exceptional hospitality service
3. Complete all tasting room POS sales, reservations, shipping and reporting operations with proficiency and error-free.
4. Collaborate with Wine Club manager and ownership to ensure the best experience for new and existing wine club members
5. Record guest notes and observations in the POS software following every guest visit
6. Ensure all facilities are setup and broken down and cleaned daily with a high standard and attention to detail.
7. Complete and report a full tasting room inventory once a week, and provide accurate samples reporting as required by management.
8. Assist with special guest events as requested by ownership
9. Provide images and video that are suitable for social media and advertising content as requested by and in collaboration with ownership
10. Visit existing and potentially new Napa-area trade accounts for either delivery of sold wine or to solicit new sales, in collaboration with the Sales Manager and/or Ownership
11. Seasonally reach out by phone or email to existing wine club members and vetted buyers with special offers, as requested by ownership
12. Create and maintain tasting notes and order forms as necessary for the tasting room and guest visits
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
1. Experience in a winery, events space, retail, or wine-focused restaurant is required. Experience in a Napa Valley winery preferred, but not required.
2. Proven track record (via references) of delivering great hospitality and guest-focused experiences in a wine sales environment
3. Wine certifications in WSET, CSM, SWE or other wine education is preferred
4. Current and ongoing valid Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) required
5. Winery-specific POS experience preferred (C7, Bottle360, WineDirect, OrderPort, etc), and Proficiency in Excel, Word, (or Mac equivalent) and basic office tasks is required.
6. Must be able to perform essential physical functions of the role, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.
7. Must be able to work comfortably alone and successfully without supervision or assistance
8. Must be 21 years of age and legally able to work in the United States
9. Fluency in English is required
10. Must have your own transportation and the ability to work either in the northern or southern end of Napa Valley.
These Hosts will work a very flexible and variable schedule and are not eligible for benefits. Compensation will be a base of $22 /hour plus commissions on sales, tips and wine club annual retention bonuses.
