This is a full-time role, reporting to the Tasting Room Manager, and will assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations, guest experiences, and staff mentoring. The Lead Wine Educator is energetic, passionate, and driven to connect with and delight our guests, delivering unparalleled customer service. This role works closely with the Tasting Room Manager to help lead the team, solve problems, and improve operational processes and guest experiences. The Lead Wine Educator exemplifies the standards of service and professionalism set for the Tasting Room team.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•  Assist Tasting Room Manager with staff training, focusing on sales techniques, hosting and tours
•  Set the example in tasting room as positive, professional, welcoming wine educator
•  Host private, walk-in, and trade tastings
•  Team lead, support, and coach sales techniques and optimizing guest experiences
•  Be POS super-user, able to help, coach, and train on processes and procedures in both the Offset POS system as well as TOCK reservation platform.
•  Work Member and winery events
•  Build and foster long-term customer relationships
•  Provide input when developing new customer experience opportunities and Tasting Room collateral.
•  Oversee day-to-day operations, including re-stocking shelves, merchandise rotations, notifying TR Manager when stock is low
•  Backup concierge duties, including scheduling and confirming reservations, printing out daily visitor schedule, and ensuring hosts are assigned guests
•  Act as second in command in the manager’s absence:
o Overseeing the POS system, processing refunds and cancellations
o Manage and/or resolve sensitive or difficult guest situations
o Setting and managing the appointment schedule, including staff lunches
o Informing team members of important organizational updates and/or changes
•  Help to maintain and instruct the team to keep up the condition and appearance of the public areas in an on-brand manner
•  Perform opening and closing procedures
•  Assist TR Manager with seasonal décor rotation (i.e. Fall and Holiday setup)
•  Track and communicate daily sales goals with TR team
•  Conduct monthly inventory cycle counts with rotating team members

Required skills:

•  Exceptional organizational skills
•  Experience with Offset and/or Tock a plus
•  Proficient in Microsoft Office
•  Commitment to excellence and high standards
•  Outstanding people management and customer skills
•  Excellent communication
•  Must be able to work independently
•  Ability to multitask and prioritize
•  Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
•  At least 3 years of experience in the wine or restaurant industry
•  Intermediate wine knowledge
•  Must be at least 21 years of age
•  Be able to stand and sit for extended periods of time
•  Be able to lift and carry 40 pounds
•  Schedule includes weekends, holidays, and some evenings

This is a non-exempt position. The hourly pay range for this position is $23-$26/hour plus tips and commissions
