Under the direction of the Controller, this individual should have accounting experience managing activities such as accounts payable/receivable, inventory management, costing, fixed assets, cash management, general ledger, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis & compliance.

ACCOUNTING & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
•  Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations and internal controls.
•  Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
•  Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
•  Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
•  Perform financial analysis, variance reporting, budgeting support, and management reporting.
•  Monitor cash activity, bank reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting.
•  Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning.
•  Coordinate with external auditors and other financial service providers.
Cost Accounting
•  Analyze vineyard, bulk wine, bottled wine, packaging, and production costs.
•  Maintain inventory costing records and support inventory valuation and reconciliations.
•  Monitor production variances and recommend cost-control improvements.
•  Assist with LIFO analysis, overhead allocations, and annual operating budgets.
•  Partner with production and operations teams to ensure accurate inventory and cost reporting.

LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISION
•  Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff.
•  Provide oversight of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, compliance reporting, and general accounting functions.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•  Maintain confidentiality of financial, payroll, employee, company, and ownership information.
•  Participate in winery, hospitality, and employee events as needed.
•  Attend off-site meetings and perform special projects or additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate is a motivated, detail-oriented professional who demonstrates integrity, accountability, flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. A collaborative attitude, positive outlook, and appreciation for winery operations are highly valued.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
•  Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
•  Minimum five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting.
•  Wine industry accounting experience required.
•  Prior supervisory experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
•  Valid California driver's license and ability to meet Company insurability requirements.
•  Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
•  Responsible Beverage Server certification, as required by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
•  Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
•  Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
•  Experience with AMS or similar accounting/ERP systems preferred.
•  Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•  Valid California driver’s license and insurable driving record.
•  Must be at least 21 years of age.
•  Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly.
•  Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the facilities.
•  Ability to stoop, bend, reach, climb, kneel, and walk as needed.
•  Ability to taste and evaluate wine (required for job performance).
•  Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings for events.

PAY TRANSPARENCY DISCLOSURE
The pay scale for this position is $100,000 to $125,000 annually. Actual compensation will depend on skills, experience, qualifications, education, and market conditions. Schramsberg Vineyards reserves the right to modify this range as needed to meet business requirements.
