Turnbull Wine Cellars is a privately owned winery, embedded in the history and culture of the Napa Valley since 1979. We craft some of the Napa Valley’s best wines in the heart of Oakville, sourcing from our four estate vineyards located in Oakville and Calistoga. We are seeking passionate Wine Educators to join our hospitality team in both full-time and part-time capacities. The ideal candidate is passionate about wine and hospitality, enjoys creating memorable guest experiences, and takes pride in representing a brand they believe in.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES:
• Greets all visitors to the Tasting Room, pours and discusses wines for tasting, and responds to customer questions appropriately.
• Ensures that every visitor enjoys their wine tasting experience and leaves with a very high impression of our wines and our hospitality.
• Is knowledgeable about wines, accurately describes wines, winemaking techniques, winery history, appellations, and all unique aspects of wines.
• Effectively promotes and sells our wine, as well as Wine Club Memberships to customers.
• Accurately processes routine purchasing transactions, including operating the cash register, accounting of daily sales, and discounts.
• Takes the initiative for self-development in our wines, our brand, general hospitality, and acquiring effective sales techniques and acumen.
• Participates in company-sponsored wine educational and development opportunities.
• Maintains current knowledge of shipping compliance and limitations in regards inter-state and international wine shipments.
• Participates and assists with special hospitality events that occur at the winery.
• Participates in daily operations of setting up, maintaining, and closing tasting rooms and guest and service areas.
• Assists with display and pricing of retail items and wines as needed.
• Demonstrates initiative and a strong sense of ownership by proactively identifying and completing productive tasks during slower periods, including cleaning, organizing, stocking, studying wines and winery information, updating guest areas, and supporting team needs without requiring direct supervision.
• Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Shows commitment to excellence and takes pride in work.
• Possesses or can develop a solid knowledge of wines and winemaking processes.
• Consistently demonstrates outstanding customer service skills, poise, and tact in working with the public.
• Is flexible and can manage constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Proficient with Offset or similar POS & CRM systems.
• Can lift 40 pounds and stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be able to work weekends and flexible schedules; some evenings required.
