Built on four core pillars—authenticity, craftsmanship, “Great Flavor First,” and innovation—John Anthony continues to expand into key growth sectors while anticipating where consumers are headed next.

Position Summary
Senior finance leader reporting to the CFO, responsible for accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, treasury, FP&A, and cash management across multiple entities. Combines technical accounting expertise with business partnering to drive performance, profitability, and scalable processes (ERP experience preferred). Wine/CPG/manufacturing background in fast-growth environments is ideal.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy: Serve as a close partner to the CFO and executive team to translate strategy into financial plans, guide decision-making, and quantify trade-offs for growth initiatives, channel strategies, pricing, and product launches.

Lead annual budgeting, long-range planning, and rolling forecasts; own model integrity and scenario planning to stress-test assumptions (volume, price, cost, channel shifts).
Build and maintain driver-based financial models for P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, SKU economics, and channel profitability; present actionable recommendations to leadership and ownership.

Define and track KPIs that align finance and operations (depletion vs. shipment, gross margin by SKU/channel, working capital turns, DTC conversion metrics).
Accounting, Reporting & Compliance

Oversee full-cycle accounting: GL, month-end close, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting; ensure efficient close cadence and timely, accurate GAAP reporting.

Manage annual audits, tax filings, and external advisors; ensure robust internal controls, SOX-ready practices as needed, and consistent policy documentation.
Ensure compliance with alcohol-specific regulations (TTB, state reporting, distributor requirements), sales tax, and other federal/state regulatory obligations.
Implement and enforce accounting policies for revenue recognition, inventory valuation, cost capitalization, rebates/credits, and promotional spend.
FP&A & Business Analysis

Lead detailed margin and profitability analysis by SKU, channel, and customer; quantify impacts of promotions, discounts, and trade spend.
Analyze sales trends, depletion vs. shipment dynamics, inventory aging, production yields, and scrap/waste to identify margin improvement and working capital opportunities.
Partner with sales, DTC, marketing, and operations to provide financial insights for pricing, portfolio rationalization, trade terms, and promotional ROI.
Design and maintain executive dashboards and automated reporting tools to increase timeliness and accuracy of decision-grade metrics.
Conduct ad hoc financial analyses (what-if scenarios, pricing sensitivity, new channel economics, M&A diligence support).
Cash Flow & Treasury Management

Own cash forecasting and liquidity planning at enterprise and entity levels; maintain rolling cash forecasts tied to operational drivers and capex plans.
Manage banking relationships, cash sweep strategies, lines of credit, debt covenants, and lender reporting; ensure compliance and timely communications with lenders.
Oversee intercompany funding and treasury allocations; optimize working capital through AR/AP strategies, inventory policies, and collection efforts.
Lead evaluation of capital projects, lease vs. buy decisions, and ROI analysis for production investments or scaling initiatives.
Controls, Systems & Process Improvement

Drive ERP selection/implementation and downstream system integrations (WMS, POS, CRM) to improve data integrity, month-end efficiency, and reporting cadence.
Standardize finance processes, automate reconciliations and reporting, and implement scalable controls to support growth and multi-entity operations.
Monitor and mitigate financial risk exposures (foreign exchange if applicable, credit risk, insurance adequacy).
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing accounting and finance staff; set objectives, coach, and conduct performance reviews.
Create a collaborative finance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and partnership with operations, production, sales, DTC, HR, and compliance.
Provide training to non-finance leaders to improve financial literacy and alignment across the business.
Organizational Structure

Reports to CFO; oversees accounting & finance staff; partners closely with sales, operations, production, DTC, compliance, and HR.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance required; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
10+ years progressive finance/accounting leadership; wine, beverage alcohol, CPG, manufacturing, or agriculture experience strongly preferred.
Deep GAAP, FP&A, financial modeling, inventory/manufacturing costing, audit and internal control experience.
Proven treasury and multi-entity cash management experience; ERP and advanced financial systems proficiency.
Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills.

Preferred Attributes
Strategic, hands-on leader comfortable in entrepreneurial, growth-oriented settings; strong business partnering and execution focus; passion for wine and premium brands.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $160–200K; performance-based bonus; health/dental/vision; 401(k); wine allocation and industry perks.
