The Vineyard Technician is responsible for supporting daily vineyard operations, ensuring vine health, and assisting with the implementation of vineyard management practices. This role requires hands-on work in the vineyard and reports to the Senior Viticulturist.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail and ensure all quality and operational protocols are followed in accordance with client expectations and vineyard-specific needs.
• Communicate effectively with all departments across the company, including timely email responses and maintaining responsiveness while working in the field.
• Promote teamwork and foster a positive company-wide culture by leading through example.
• Conduct daily vineyard observations, assessing vine health and identifying any critical issues. Communicate findings promptly to the appropriate internal teams to ensure timely corrective action.
• Collaborate closely with the Viticulture Department to execute all viticulture-directed activities, including spray and irrigation work orders. Ensure all equipment and materials are set up and applied according to specifications.
• Prepare and submit detailed daily scouting reports to keep the Viticulture Department informed of field conditions and observations.
• Utilize company software systems to create, manage, and communicate work orders effectively to field teams and supervisors.
• Manage and oversee miscellaneous vineyard projects as assigned.
• Work independently while maintaining a strong understanding of client vineyards and their specific needs.
• Interpret and utilize vineyard maps to support effective operational planning and execution.
• Operate and maintain soil moisture and plant monitoring equipment, including but not limited to neutron probes and pressure bombs, and accurately record and report collected data.
• Work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to outdoor weather, agricultural chemicals, insects, pollen, and dust. Availability to work extended hours, including nights during the harvest season, is required.
• Support and strengthen a culture of honesty, transparency, and open communication with the Senior Viticulturist to enhance operational success and overall workplace culture.
Job Type: Full-time Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Pay Range: $24.00-$28.00 DOE
