Whitehall Lane is a family-owned and operated winery nestled in the heart of Rutherford, Napa Valley. Established in 1979, we farm eight estate vineyards and craft wines that reflect both our land and our legacy.
We are looking for a full-time, in-office Staff Accountant (40 hours per week) to join our close-knit team. This role is ideal for someone with foundational accounting experience who’s eager to grow and gain hands-on exposure to the many facets of the wine industry.
You’ll work in a lively, collaborative, and supportive environment, partnering closely with the Owner, General Manager, and Accounting Manager. Beyond day-to-day accounting responsibilities, this position offers a unique opportunity to learn how a family-run winery operates from vineyard to bottle—while building valuable, real-world experience in a beautiful Napa Valley setting.

Example of responsibilities (not limited to those listed below):
1. General accounting and financial support:
- Assist with invoicing across various channels.
- Prepare and files sales tax and CRV.
- Assist with accounting records and entries across AP, AR and bank deposits.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and bulk wine costing.
- Monitor grape weighmaster certificates and grower case activity to ensure contract compliance.
- Prepare ad hoc and management reports as needed.
- Assist with month end and year end close out responsibilities including inventory.
- Assist with vendor invoice processing, ensuring accuracy, coding consistency, and timely payments.
- Process employee travel and expense requests in a timely manner.
- Process incoming mail.
- Process credit card sales receipts, statement recon and cash recon.
- Compliance liaison.

Job requirements:
1. 2+ years related experience/training in the Wine Industry, preferred
2. Associate degree, preferred
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong Excel skills
4. QuickBooks Desktop proficient
5. Must handle confidential information with discretion and tact.
6. Must be able to work in the office three days per week. Not a remote position.
7. Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs., or a 9L case of wine, climb stairs and sit for long periods of time.
