Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead our accounting and financial reporting functions. The Controller will work closely with the Vice President of Finance to oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting, while ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. This individual will play a critical role in supporting strategic planning and decision-making across the organization. This role requires a proactive leader who can work collaboratively with senior leadership as well as develop the accounting team and incorporate technology to improve efficiencies developing and generating financial reporting and projections. Qualified candidates will have the ability to manage expectations across the organization and exhibit strong potential to grow within the organization and take on new responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including AP/AR, general ledger, payroll, and inventory accounting.
Manage the month end close process and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Ability to complete all aspects of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
Monitor internal controls and develop process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate with senior leadership on financial strategy, and long-term planning.
Coordinate annual audit and work with external auditors and tax advisors.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Analyze costs related to wine production, vineyard operations, and DTC/wholesale channels.
Identify and implement technology solutions to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting, analysis and projections across all aspects of the business.
Supervise and mentor a team of Accounting and Finance professionals.
Partner cross-functionally with departments including operations, sales, marketing, and hospitality.
Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior accounting role.
Experience in the wine industry, CPG, or manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Proficiency in accounting software systems, Business Central experience preferred. Experience with Warehouse Management Systems also desired.
Familiarity with industry software (Innovint, ShipCompliant)
Strong understanding of inventory accounting, cost of goods sold (COGS), and margin analysis.
Knowledge of TTB compliance and reporting.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
