Today, Groth sustainably farms two estates totaling 165 acres with the dual goals of production the highest-quality, most elegant wines possible, while caring for our estate for future generations.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Tasting Room Manager is responsible for creating a high-level guest experience at the winery that drives sales and profitability results, new customer acquisition, and achieves membership conversion goals. This hands-on position requires a strategic mindset, strong ability to motivate a team, high emotional intelligence, and desire to lead by example.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Lead, motivate, and mentor team to provide:
- A detailed, high-quality guest experience.
- The ability to tell the Groth family story in a memorable and meaningful way.
- In-depth knowledge of our vineyards and wines.
- High-level sales and conversion execution.
•  Personally host guests, trade partners, and members directly. Collaborate with department managers to coordinate trade, wine club, large group, and other visits, ensuring exceptional service and hospitality.
•  Help develop, report against, and regularly manage Hospitality budget with a goal to continually increase profitability and revenue.
•  Oversee reservation strategy for increased visitation.
•  Recruit, interview, train, review performance, and regularly schedule assigned team, ensuring the tasting room is always adequately staffed. Conduct weekly team meetings.
•  Review and approve timecards in the online time clock system, calculate monthly sales-based bonuses, and submit all payroll information by established deadlines.
•  Conduct daily walk-arounds within all hospitality spaces and team lunch/break room, to ensure everything is up to the Groth standard.
•  Ensure policies and procedures are followed and updated appropriately. These include opening/closing, cash handling, POS/CRM, inventory, PTO requests, required certifications, etc.
•  Directly manage inventory counts, reconciliation, and reporting. This includes regular counts and tracking of collateral and supplies needed.
•  Efficiently manage, order, or pick up all inventories needed, inclusive of wine and supplies.
•  Play a key role in responding to incoming customer and member correspondence and communication.
•  Appropriately represent the winery at consumer, trade, and industry events, both onsite and off.
•  Cultivate strategic relationships with top hotels, restaurants, and wineries to drive qualified traffic and elevate the brand’s visibility.
•  Complete and distribute regular trade visit/feedback reports.
•  Collaborate with the Wine Club & Events Manager on club member conversion and retention practices, event staffing/execution, and any needed in-house campaign execution (telesales, text, email), and management of general ordering for the winery: coffee, kitchen utensils, office, restroom supplies, etc.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

•  Minimum 5 years related experience in team leadership, revenue generation and hospitality – BA/BS degree preferred.
•  Proficient within Microsoft Office Suite.
•  Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•  Excellent organizational skills, follow up, and attention to detail.
•  Leader with a proven ability to develop teams.
•  Strong Emotional Intelligence
•  Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and business practices.
•  Ability to overcome obstacles and deliver, regardless of the obstacles.
•  Working knowledge of Wine Direct, C7, and Tock preferred.
•  Must be at least 21 years old.
•  Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
•  Work with the utmost confidentiality regarding employees and company finances.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical requirements listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and key responsibilities of this position. The ability to always work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Frequent operation of computer and other office equipment, the ability to sit at a workstation for long periods of time, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, lift, twist, pull, push, carry, grasp, reach and stoop as need, and to regularly lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The employee works in an office environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Occasional travel may be required.
