Pernod Ricard Winemakers USA is seeking a seasoned accountant with over 3 years of experience for a contract role supporting all aspects of costing in a CPG manufacturing environment. Proficiency with balance sheet reconciliation and a keen attention to detail are essential. The Cost Accounting Analyst will report to the Finance and Accounting Manager, providing key support to ensure data integrity and accurate forecasting insights related to accounting workflows and seasonal costing projects. The role will work closely with local and global stakeholders.
6 month temporary assignment
40 hours per week
Hybrid/onsite 2-3 days per week
Can be located at Mumm Napa or Kenwood Vineyards
Summary of Role
- Reconciliation of inventory balance sheets to subledger reports
- Support annual costing projects
- Support periodic reforecasting exercises for cost of goods sold and manufacturing variance
- Monthly work order close in JD Edwards and tracking of related accounting flows
- Ensure data integrity in item build of materials (BOMs) with respect to COGS modeling
- Support gross margin reporting requirements
- Use of financial modeling
- Timely communication with local and global stakeholders
Essential Qualifications/Skills
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline
- 3 or more years of experience in FP&A or Accounting; CPG industry is a plus
- Direct experience with ERP software; JD Edwards preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Key Responsibilities:
Intermediate Accounting (25%)
- Balance sheet reconciliations (inventory): accounting flows, reconciliation to subledgers
o Winemaking software reporting
o JD Edwards item ledger reporting
- Accrual accounting: overhead movements and releases in line with production plans
- Financial statements: working knowledge of P&L relationship to Balance Sheet in manufacturing
Seasonal Projects (20%)
- Support the data retrieval, validation, and analysis of the following annual costing projects:
o Vintage costing – grape inventory valuation
o Tirage costing – composition of grape valuation used in tirage modeling
o Standard costing – compilation of wet, dry, and production costs
Advanced Excel (20%)
- Pivot tables: formatting, field selection, calculated fields, formulaic references
- Lookups: V, H, X, Index Match
- Sumifs, Sumproduct, Weighted Average Calculations; dynamic/elevated references
- Attention to formatting, including presentation appeal and ease of user/reviewer navigation
- Documentation of process logic and workflow
Data Administration and Maintenance 20%)
- Data inputs to JD Edwards, primarily for BOMs (build of materials)
- Reporting and analysis of inputs against standard cost calculation guidance to ensure accuracy
- Monthly work order review and data reconciliation
- Support monthly HQ reporting requirements related to gross margin
Intermediate Financial Modeling (10%)
- Financial model navigation and input updates
- Support forecasting exercises related to cost accounting
- Maintain clean and organized framework
Communication (5%)
- Collaborate with local and global stakeholders
- Timely response to all inquiries
- Identify any risks to meeting deadlines
Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay scale offered for this position is $80,000-$85,000. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data.
