TITLE: Cellar Worker

REPORTS TO: Cellar Master

OBJECTIVE: The Cellar Crew member, under the direction of the Winemaker and the Cellar Master, assists in the winemaking process. The Cellar Crew is assigned work orders and carries out assignments with the objective of producing ultra-premium wines. The Cellar Worker will become familiar with different Winemaking techniques by following written protocols and/or by following verbal instructions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Carry out all cellar activities assigned by the Winemaking Team or by the Cellar Master respecting the wine and quality objective
•  Clean and sanitize winery equipment and hoses as directed by the Winemaker
•  Aid in barrel movements
•  Fill, operate and clean the press
•  Assist crush pad operations
•  Help in cleaning the crush pad, winery, and winery equipment.
•  Use only sanitized equipment when appropriate
•  Perform barrel racking and barrel cleaning.
•  Make additions to barrels per written work orders
•  Help maintain empty barrels
•  Perform pump overs and punch downs per written work orders; perform barrel topping and stirring (rotations) per written work orders.
•  Help track fermentations (brix, and temperatures)
•  Sample vineyard grapes
•  Follow all procedures and protocols, including safety procedures.
•  Ask questions when procedures are not clear
•  Immediately report any errors or out-of-the-ordinary circumstances in the cellar to the Winemaker or Cellar Foreman
•  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Any injury and/or accident, regardless of severity, must be reported immediately to the appropriate manager or supervisor or to Human Resources.
•  If injured, and when requested by Domain Services, LLC, the injured worker must visit the Company’s designated occupational health provider for a medical evaluation to determine fitness for duty.
•  Where required, and without exception, employees must wear/use mandated PPE
•  Machine guards must not be removed, and the supervisor notified when guards have been damaged or rendered ineffective.
•  Machines without adequate guards or guards in questionable condition must not be used and reported to the supervisor.
•  Hazardous conditions and other safety concerns must be reported immediately to the appropriate manager or supervisor.
•  Failure to follow the rules may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

•  Lift and handle materials, at times, weighing up to 95 pounds.
•  Rotate barrels on wheels weighing up to 550 pounds.
•  Work overtime, including nighttime shifts when necessary (for example during harvest)
•  Stand on hard surface for extended periods (up to 12 hours daily)
•  Grasp, stoop, pull, push, kneel, carry, crouch, reach, and stoop as needed, sometimes for extended periods.
•  Strong mechanical aptitude
•  Understand verbal instructions and be able to communicate in English or Spanish Proactive, honest, and trustworthy.
•  Team player with a positive attitude
•  Self-motivated, willingness to learn and teach.
•  Exceptional organizational skills
•  Detail and service oriented

WORKING CONDITIONS:

•  Occasionally includes work around machinery with moving parts (for example, harvest conveyors, pumps, bottling equipment and other processing equipment.
•  May include occasional work around machinery with noise levels exceeding 50dB.
•  Willing to work on wet floors for extended periods of time.
•  Must be able to work in or around an underground cave environment, which may include low level lighting conditions, windowless and/or confined space, cool temperatures (58-60 degrees F), and elevated humidity (80% or greater RH).
