Summary Job Description:
The Assistant Winemaker/Enologist will be a key part of the growing Estate team at Signorello Estate. The purpose of this role is to coordinate and conduct all cellar related operations for Signorello Estate. This position will be a key interface for custom crush clients that use Signorello’s facilities. Drives the culture of the winery with a focus on safety, quality, teamwork and sustainability. If hired as Enologist, the position is a stepping-stone position to the role of Assistant Winemaker within the Company.

Job Description:
•  Coordinate daily work activities for cellar crew in communication with Cellarmaster and cellar crew.
•  Coordinate and communicate with custom crush clients for routine operations like topping, sulfuring and sampling.
•  Regular tracking and sampling for quality control and quality assurance activities in the cellar. Maintain all records for sample analysis and lot related chemistry details.
•  Set up and execute any lab trials for winemaking related projects. Set up lab related processes and activities. Set up and suggest any research and development related projects.
•  Create SOPs and work sheets for activities and projects at Signorello Estate. Needs to be proficient with use of Innovint and software for all custom crush related activities and communications.
•  Coordinate and assist in scheduling bottling activities, packaging, labeling and waxing large formats.
•  Coordinate with warehouse staff and manage logistics for repacks needed for Signorello SKUs, packaging, labeling and waxing large formats.
•  Work on applications and tracking certification related processes for eg. CCOF, Fish Friendly, Napa Green and more depending on direction from Winemaker and ownership.
•  Set up any winemaking, production related tastings for Signorello or custom crush clients.
•  Ask questions and request direction and/or resources you need to accomplish assigned tasks. Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work environment at all times.
•  Coordinate with Winemaker for hiring, review, discipline and termination of cellar crew members and harvest interns. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizations policies and applicable laws.
•  Harvest operational duties will include harvest crew coordination, bin management, fruit trucking/delivery, equipment management including machine harvest operations. Scheduling and confirming custom crush client fruit deliveries, work orders, pressing and barrel downs.
•  Encourage a culture of appreciation for work well done with great attitudes.
•  Encourage open dialogue for problem solving and continual improvement.

Job Qualifications:
Candidate must be responsible, keen attention to detail, to be able to work independently and have a willingness to work flexible hours, days, including weekends during harvest. Candidate must be comfortable with using various programs like Innovint, VineInfo, Microsoft Excel and more. Candidate must be fluent in English and preference is if bi-lingual (English and Spanish) and has valid driver’s license. A solid work ethic and a desire to learn is required, educational degrees in enology/viticulture is preferred but not needed.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to work outdoors in extremes of heat/rain/humidity/cold and other weather conditions.
Must be able to walk on uneven ground
Able to pass a respirator test.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be able to see clearly
