Training Specialist

Job Description:

This position partners with all functional areas throughout the company to achieve training goals, working with management and employees to provide training across a variety subjects. This position is broad in nature, developing, planning, and coordinating training initiatives as needed to improve employee knowledge within all levels of the organization. Training programs work to address and manage change and facilitate operational initiatives. This is a highly visible role that will influence Gott’s culture as well as employee and guest experiences. The Training Specialist should have an appreciation and knowledge for food and the restaurant operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General Training Duties: (75%)
•  Develop and maintain training curriculum specific to food preparation, storage, and execution using instructor led training, video trainings and other formats as requested.
•  Build and implement hands-on training programs focusing on food quality and presentation.
•  Execute and roll out training initiatives to all locations.
•  Partner with leadership to develop programs to enhance the hospitality experience.
•  Create and maintain required training matrix by position.
•  Create and maintain content for the LMS platform, including but not limited to monthly specials, recipe cards, menu training items and quick reference guides.
•  Ability to perform hands on culinary demonstrations for employees.
•  Develop learning opportunities that support cross training goals for non-English speaking employees.
•  Problem-solve and support teams to make improvements when employees are executing food and service below company standards.
•  Shadow restaurant trainers and provide evaluation and feedback to General Managers to gain insight into effectiveness of training materials.
•  Build, maintain, and leverage digital imaging and media application for creating training content.
•  Partner with all functional areas as needed to assist in development of training materials

Administrative Duties: (25%)
•  Partner with the Culinary Director to create and maintain allergen charts and beer and wine register guides.
•  Research training supplies and materials that can enhance the company’s training procedures while providing value to employees. Additionally, research industry best practices and changes to develop meaningful content.
•  Assist the Marketing and Culinary Directors with photoshoot execution.
•  Manage Food Handler and RBS tracking and reporting.
•  Superior organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-up abilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Training Specialist Preferred Qualifications
Education/Experience:
•  Minimum 3-5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Other:
•  CA Food Handlers Certification Manager required.
•  Must wear close-toed, non-slip shoes.
•  RBS Certified
•  Ability to travel 50-75% of the time via car and/or air

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•  Strong interpersonal and communication skills across diverse communities.
•  Teaching and facilitation skills. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Continued:
•  Ability to determine training objectives and design, implement, and evaluate training plans.
•  High attention to detail and strong computer skills.
•  Must be able to drive around the greater bay area.
•  Bilingual preferred.
•  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
•  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
•  Proficient in a variety of technology systems.
