Lead Cook

Trefethen Family Vineyards is looking for a full-time Lead Cook to join our culinary team. Reporting to and working closely with the Winery Chef, this key member of our team will prepare and execute all of our culinary programs. The Lead Cook will be responsible for preparing food for wine pairings and presenting pairings to our guests. This position will also, on average, spend two days a week as the primary support in the kitchen working closely with our Wine Educators to help execute the culinary portion of our tasting experiences. This full-time position includes benefits such as medical/dental/vision insurance, paid sick and vacation time, paid holidays, participation in our 401k plan, employee wine allocations, vegetable and produce allocations from our gardens, and much more. The expected start date is May 1st, 2024.

Essential Functions
•  Ability to work closely with and support the Winery Chef in every aspect of our culinary program.
•  Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of our wines and how they pair with food and produce from our estate gardens.
•  Strong ability to share our story and our wines through in-person, interactive tastings and other consumer-facing events and experiences.
•  Ability to understand and comply with our culinary standards relating to food quality and safety.
•  Be an exceptional team member who is willing to support all culinary and hospitality needs.

Job Requirements
•  1+ years in similar position and level of responsibility required
•  Ability to support Winery Chef and Events Manager, and mentor line cooks
•  Simultaneously manage daily tastings and special events needs
•  Strong culinary skills, a passion for fine wine and hospitality and a strong attention to detail
•  Assist with setup and breakdown in the kitchen, preparing food and educating our guests
•  Support Winery Chef with kitchen and storage organization, inventory, and food preservation
•  Aid with daily baked goods production, recipe logging and other duties as needed
•  Ability to effectively fill in for the Winery Chef at least two days each week
•  Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
•  Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
•  Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and evenings.

Physical Requirements
•  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
•  Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
•  Specific vision abilities require close and distance vision
•  Stand for long periods of time
•  Occasionally bend, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch or climb stairs

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00-$80,000.00. This salary range represents what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. However, the actual pay rate will depend upon job-related factors such as overall qualifications, skills, experience, education, etc. The Company reserves the right to modify the range at any time.
