We are seeking extraordinary, enthusiastic Winemaker to join our team. Tinhorn Creek Vineyards in Oliver, BC is one of the Okanagan’s most innovative and environmentally sustainable estate wineries with an extensive health and safety program. We are a 450-ton winery in the heart of the South Okanagan wine region, with vineyards on both the Golden Mile Bench and the Black Sage Bench. We produce roughly 50:50 white and red, and our two unique vineyard sites allow us to grow both Bordeaux and Burgundy varietals in addition to a dash of Syrah and Gewurztraminer. We employ a basic and natural wine making approach and have a small but skilled team you would enjoy working with.
Reporting to the Senior Winemaker, South Okanagan your responsibilities will include the management of the day to day operation of the winery and implementing best in class initiatives. In addition, you will participate in internal and external events related to Marketing/Sales, Public Relations initiatives, Corporate Operations Management Team, and industry activities.
We are looking for a teammate with:
Winemaking and/or Viticulture qualification, or related science degree, combined with three (3) years’ experience in Winemaking and Cellar Operations
Leadership and management experience
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Strong interpersonal skills; exceptional communication skills
Passionate, driven, and has a winning attitude
Strong understanding of what contributes to wine quality
This teammate will be accountable for:
Working with the Senior Winemaker and Tinhorn Creek Team, managing the daily operation of the winery
Leadership and management of cellar staff including training, developing a harvest strategy, and training and work assignment
Assisting with development of vision and strategy for winery including implementing Best in Class initiatives
Working with viticulture, sales, and marketing to improve wine quality, brand innovation and sales performance
Assisting with capital planning, procurement and equipment commissioning as required, as well mmanaging and monitoring the operating budget
Planning, scheduling, and executing bottling plan, including managing all bottling and shipping logistics
Fermentation management; management of Barrel inventory and laboratory analysis review
Blending/Stabilization/Filtration in accordance with Blending Sessions and Bottling schedule; Process Stream planning and execution
Participating in tastings and sensory panels and actively work to expand on an award-winning program
Developing and supporting public relations initiatives (internal and external)
Representing Tinhorn Creek Winery at various conferences, associations, and other related agencies
Understanding and following safe work procedures and practices
