Job Description:

Vintage 2019 – Lab Technician

Hidden Bench farms 70 acres/28 hectares of organic vineyards across 4 distinct sites along the Beamsville Bench in Niagara, Ontario. Focussing primarily on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling, we craft organic wines that reflect our unique, cool climate terroir.

We are looking for an experienced, detail oriented, knowledgeable and enthusiastic lab technician to join our team for harvest 2019 (late August through to late November). The key responsibilities will include:

•  Running standard juice/wine chemical analyses:
o Brix and Fermentation Monitoring
o pH, TA
o Turbidity via NTU meter
o FSO2, TSO2
o Ebulliometry for Alcohol

•  Experience running Spectrophotometry for Enzymatic Assays is a major asset
o Glucose/Fructose
o Acetic Acid
o Malic Acid

•  Fruit maturity monitoring through vineyard sampling and chemical analyses

•  Tracking fruit weigh-bill sample submissions for eGrape/GGO/VQA

•  Record keeping of all analyses

•  Assisting with setting-up bench trials

•  Some cellar operations as required
o Assisting with Fruit Receival
o Various Cellar Hygiene operations (equipment/tank cleaning)
o Juice/Wine additions
o Sampling & Topping
o Red wine cap management (Pumpovers, Punchdowns)
o Barrel Stirring
o Helping with bottling operations

International applicants are responsible for any work permits to be eligible to work in Canada.

Hourly Pay Rate. TBD based on experience.
