We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic Cellar Assistant to join our Tinhorn Creek Vineyards. Tinhorn Creek Vineyards in Oliver, BC is one of the Okanagan's most innovative and environmentally sustainable estate wineries with an extensive health and safety program. We are a 450-ton winery in the heart of the South Okanagan wine region, with vineyards on both the Golden Mile Bench and the Black Sage Bench. We produce roughly 50:50 white and red, and our two unique vineyard sites allow us to grow both Bordeaux and Burgundy varietals in addition to a dash of Syrah and Gewurztraminer. We employ a basic and natural wine making approach and have a small but skilled team you would enjoy working with.
Reporting to the Winemaker, the Cellar Assistant will be responsible for working in a team environment ensuring hands-on tasks of wine production are completed accurately, on time, and with accuracy.
We are looking for a teammate with:
An interest and passion for the wine industry
A desire to learn and assist in making extraordinary wine
Diploma or degree in a wine related field of study
One to two years' experience in a winery cellar, with at least one harvest worked and/or beverage manufacturing experience an asset
Ability to multi task on a regular basis
This teammate will be accountable for:
Support the Assistant Winemaker and/or Winemaker with various wine production activities from harvest, to bottling and sanitation
Cleaning and preparing the bottling line for bottling of multiple glass types and styles
Train and educate harvest/temporary staff on cellar operations: Racking, Filtering, Fining, crushing and digging out tanks
Operating and maintenance of all equipment in the winery as well supervising harvest crew, receiving, weighting, crushing, cleaning
Training and certifying all full time/part time and harvest staff on forklift operations and safety
