Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery is located in St. Catharines, Ontario. We are looking for a head winemaker. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 10 years winemaking experience, post-secondary degree with the ability to manage a vibrant and talented team in the lab and cellars. Must be a self-starter with very good time management, organization, people skills and is comfortable using computer-based winemaking/tracking systems. A track record of making premium/ultra-premium wine is critical. Henry of Pelham is a family-owned winery whose first vintage was in 1988. A pioneer in premium, all VQA wine in Niagara with 275 acres of estate vineyards dating back to 1984 and current production of 150,000 cases, Henry of Pelham’s wines are available across Canada and in many countries around the world. With significant growth and a state of the art winemaking facility and vineyards, the successful candidate will work in a systems-based, structured environment that is also highly entrepreneurial and energetic. Main responsibilities will include:
-Managing a team and give directions to 3 supervisors daily (Lab, Cellars and Production)
-Planification and coordination of winemaking operations and production
-Involved in equipment purchase and other capital investments
-Planification and scheduling of grape receival
-HR: Hiring full-time employees and annual reviews
-R&D on new products and new SKUs
-Maintaining winemaking style.
