Sales Representative - Northern California

Harv 81 US

Remote > Benicia, CA

Job Description:

Job Summary

Harv 81 Group is seeking a motivated, energetic, and relationship-driven Sales Representative to support the growth of our Tonnellerie O and Creative Oak businesses, with a primary focus on expanding Creative Oak's presence in the U.S. wine industry with territory based focus in Northern California.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing sales role designed for someone who enjoys building relationships, developing new business, and working directly with winemakers. The ideal candidate will be comfortable visiting wineries, introducing products, coordinating customer samples and trials, and following through to convert opportunities into long-term business.

While this position will support the broader Tonnellerie O portfolio, the primary responsibility will be generating new Creative Oak business and growing existing customer relationships.

What Success Looks Like

The Sales Representative will be measured on both sales activity and commercial results. Key performance indicators include:

•  New winery accounts contacted and qualified.
•  Customer meetings and winery visits completed.
•  Creative Oak samples and trials initiated.
•  Follow-up tastings and trial evaluations completed.
•  Trial-to-first-order conversion rate.
•  New Creative Oak customers acquired.
•  Repeat orders and customer retention.
•  Revenue growth and gross margin within the assigned territory.
•  Cross-selling opportunities developed with the broader Harv 81 sales team.

Specific performance targets will be established based on territory potential, experience, and business objectives.

Training & Support

This position will receive ongoing training and support from:

•  VP of Sales: Sales strategy, performance expectations, and professional development.
•  Regional Tonnellerie O / Creative Oak Area Director(s) and Leadership: Customer introductions, territory development, and field coaching.
•  Creative Oak Technical Team: Product knowledge, trial design, wine applications, and technical recommendations.
•  Marketing: Sample kits, customer presentations, event support, and sales materials.
•  Sales Operations: CRM training, reporting, and sales tools.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is hungry to grow the business, not simply maintain existing accounts. A strong willingness to learn, take initiative, and build relationships is more important than extensive sales experience.

The right person is outgoing, curious, motivated, and comfortable walking into a winery, introducing themselves to a winemaker, and creating a new opportunity. They should enjoy being in the field, learning about wine, working with customers, and seeing their efforts translate into real sales results.

Above all, we want someone who takes ownership, follows through, and is excited to help establish Creative Oak as a preferred oak partner for wineries throughout California.

Growth Opportunity

This position is intended to develop future sales talent within Harv 81. As the representative builds product knowledge, customer relationships, and a successful sales territory, there will be opportunities to take on greater account responsibility and grow into a more independent sales role.

Key Responsibilities
•  New Business Development & Sales Growth
•  Identify and pursue new Creative Oak opportunities throughout the assigned territory.
•  Prospect wineries, winemakers, and production teams to introduce Creative Oak products and solutions.
•  Schedule and conduct regular customer visits, product introductions, and follow-up meetings.
•  Develop relationships with winemakers, cellar teams, purchasing managers, and winery ownership.
•  Work closely with existing TO' and Harv 81 sales representatives to identify cross-selling opportunities.
•  Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities with the goal of converting prospects into purchasing customers.
•  Customer Samples, Trials & Tastings - This will be a major focus of the position. Our expectation is that samples lead to trials, trials lead to evaluations, and successful evaluations lead to sales.
•  Proactively introduce Creative Oak products through customer sample kits and product demonstrations.
•  Coordinate customized winery trials with the Creative Oak technical team.
•  Work with winemakers to understand their wine style, desired results, and current oak programs.
•  Schedule follow-up tastings and evaluations to review trial results.
•  Track all samples, trials, customer feedback, and next steps in CRM.
•  Work with technical specialists to recommend appropriate products and commercial applications.
•  Convert successful trials into first orders and develop repeat business.
•  Events & Market Development
•  Help organize and participate in Creative Oak winemaker tastings, educational workshops, and regional sales events.
•  Coordinate small, targeted winery events that allow customers to experience Creative Oak products firsthand.
•  Attend relevant trade shows, industry networking events, and customer functions.
•  Support regional Creative Oak roadshows and coordinated winery visits.
•  Follow up with event attendees to turn interest into qualified sales opportunities.
•  Customer Relationship Management
•  Maintain consistent communication with existing and prospective customers.
•  Provide timely follow-up on samples, quotations, trials, and open opportunities.
•  Partner with Customer Service, Operations, and the technical team to ensure positive customer experience.
•  Identify opportunities to expand Creative Oak usage within existing winery accounts.
•  Build relationships that support long-term customer retention and repeat purchasing.
•  Sales Reporting & Accountability
•  Maintain accurate customer information, sales activities, and opportunities in CRM.
•  Track samples distributed, trials initiated, tastings completed, and orders generated.
•  Provide regular updates on pipeline activity, customer feedback, competitive information, and market opportunities.
