Nicolas-Jay is a small, dedicated team making Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the Willamette Valley, born of a partnership between music entrepreneur Jay Boberg and Jean-Nicolas Méo of Burgundy's Méo-Camuzet. We make wines that have earned a place among Oregon’s best, in a truly special corner of the Dundee Hills AVA. Here, one person's contribution is seen and felt, and you will have a real voice in how we grow. We are looking for a finance and operations leader who wants that kind of seat at the table.
The Role
You will be the financial and operational backbone of the winery. This is a partnership role, not an upkeep role. You'll own the numbers and the story they tell, and you'll help keep the estate and its operations running smoothly.
Finance
• Own monthly financial reporting, delivering timely end-of-month results with written analysis and insight.
• Support costing and forecasting for estate and imported wines in tandem with General Manager.
• Manage and maintain the company cash flow model.
• Perform AP/AR, bank and credit card reconciliations, and monthly revenue, COGS and WIP reclasses. Perform real estate accounting and AP/AR for ownership.
• Run weekly check runs and cash position reporting to ownership.
• Process payroll through Paychex.
• Develop department budgets and work with GM to hold monthly budget meetings with department leads to discuss variances and improve performance.
• Build and maintain consolidated, modern dashboards so department leads have self-serve visibility into their own sales and progress.
Wholesale, Export & Logistics
• Process FOB and export/import orders in QuickBooks and our order system.
• Coordinate shipping with our third-party logistics partner, including imported wines.
• Monitor and respond to sales/PO correspondence.
• Maintain allocations for Export market and facilitate shipments and processing of POs from various importers.
Operations Oversight
• Help oversee general facilities maintenance, repairs and vendor relationships, in collaboration with the GM.
• Help oversee physical inventory counts and reconciliation with Consumer Sales Manager & GM.
• Partner with the IT provider and department leads to keep systems running.
• Participate in implementation of any new winery operating systems and processes.
What You Bring
Required
• Prior winery or wine-industry experience.
• Accounting degree, or equivalent experience.
• Strong QuickBooks skills and proven reporting and analysis ability.
• Comfort running a meeting with non-finance colleagues and explaining numbers plainly.
Preferred
• Experience with wholesale, importing or exporting.
• Experience with a winery production/inventory system (e.g., InnoVint, Vintrace).
• Experience building dashboards or management reporting.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive compensation based upon experience. Benefits include full healthcare coverage, 401(k), wine allocations, and a competitive PTO program.
