Tasting Room Associate

About the Role

Joseph Cellars Winery is seeking an energetic, personable, and sales-driven individual to join our team. The ideal candidate is someone who can provide exceptional hospitality, create lasting relationships, strengthen existing relationships, and is comfortable with phone-based sales & customer relationship development.

Hospitality & Tasting Room
- Welcoming and engaging with winery guests with a warm, professional, and enthusiastic approach.
- Host and conduct wine tastings and provide engaging education about Joseph Cellars wines, vineyards, winemaking, and winery history.
- Create opportunities for wine sales and Wine Club enrollment.
- Build relationships with tasting room guests and encourage future visits and purchases.
- Assist with private tastings, special events, member events, release events, and other winery functions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming tasting room and guest environment.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, restocking, merchandise, inventory, and other daily operational needs.
- Operate the winery's POS system and process sales accurately.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Phone Sales & Customer Development
- Conduct consistent outbound sales calls to existing and prospective customers.
- Develop genuine, long-term relationships with customers through personalized phone conversations.
- Recommend wines based on customer preferences, purchasing history, occasions, and interests.
- Introduce customers to new releases, featured wines, library selections, special offers, and Wine Club opportunities.
- Maintain accurate customer records, including contact information, shipping addresses, purchasing preferences, and sales notes.
- Document customer interactions, preferences, and follow-up opportunities.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer calls, emails, and other inquiries.
- Assist customers with shipping questions, order status, returns, and other post-sale needs.
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the entire sales process.
- Identify opportunities to increase customer frequency, order size, Wine Club membership, and repeat purchases.
- Work collaboratively with winery leadership to execute sales promotions, campaigns, and targeted customer outreach.

What We're Looking For
- A Tasting Room Associate with the confidence and enthusiasm to ask for the sale.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build authentic customer relationships over the phone and in person.
- Previous telephone sales, wine sales, hospitality, tasting room, or customer service experience preferred.
- Wine knowledge and/or wine industry experience strongly preferred.
- Comfortable working independently while also contributing to a team environment.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and accountable for achieving sales goals.
- Comfortable learning and using POS, CRM, email, and other computer-based sales tools.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Must be at least **21 years of age**.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry cases of wine up to approximately 40–50 lbs.
- Must be available to work weekends, winery events, select holidays, and occasional evenings.

Schedule & Compensation
This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Compensation may include hourly wages, tips, commissions, $30+/hour DOE. Health Benefits as well.
The schedule will include regular weekend shifts and participation in winery events, with additional hours based on business needs.
