Ralph’s Hingham Wine Merchant is seeking an enthusiastic, personable individual to join our team part-time. Prior wine experience is welcome, but curiosity, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn matter most.

Owner Ralph Hersom has more than three decades of experience in wine and hospitality, including roles as Cellarmaster at New York’s legendary Windows on the World and Wine Director at Le Cirque 2000. He has worked with leading wines, winemakers, chefs, collectors, and restaurants, and was featured on the cover of Wine Enthusiast magazine.

This is an opportunity to learn from that experience while building a strong foundation in wine, food pairing, hospitality, and fine-wine retail.

The Role

You’ll work directly with customers, recommend wines for everyday meals and special occasions, assist with tastings and events, receive and merchandise inventory, and help maintain the standards of a busy independent wine shop.

You’ll also taste and learn—exploring why wines taste the way they do, how regions and producers differ, and how to turn that knowledge into thoughtful, accessible recommendations.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is

Genuinely interested in wine, food, and hospitality
Curious and eager to learn
Reliable, organized, and self-motivated
Comfortable in a hands-on retail environment
Able to lift and move cases of wine
Available for a part-time schedule that includes some evenings and weekends

Previous wine, restaurant, retail, or hospitality experience is a plus, but extensive wine knowledge is not required. We value enthusiasm and the right attitude over existing expertise.
