The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of brewery equipment, facility systems, and grounds. This role performs preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs while ensuring equipment and systems meet applicable safety standards, regulations, manufacturer requirements, and facility procedures. The Maintenance Mechanic also identifies and addresses potential hazards and unsafe operating conditions to help maintain a safe and efficient facility.

Duties & Responsibilities
•  Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on all sake making equipment
•  Monitor and update maintenance procedures and service records as needed
•  Troubleshoot and repair all plant equipment including: Rice milling equipment, HVAC, glycol chiller, 15 hp gas fired water tube boilers, gas water heater, rice steaming and processing equipment, process water systems, electrical controls, electric motors, pumps, plumbing and other equipment
•  Maintain and monitor wastewater treatment equipment in compliance with all current regulations
•  Troubleshoot and repair electric system of sake brewery, including process and motor control
•  Responsible for all routine maintenance and upkeep of the overall facility, including buildings and grounds.
•  Complete daily inspections of critical equipment and communicate with departments to identify needs, prioritize, and schedule repairs and maintenance.
•  Maintain and Schedule yearly inspections as required. Ex: backflow preventers, alarm system, boiler inspections, etc.
•  Maintain parts inventory and ordering process to ensure parts availability for timely maintenance and repairs.
•  Develop written safety procedures for brewery equipment
•  Due to the nature of our production, this position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
•  Assist with yearly Capital Expenditure request process as needed
•  Other jobs and duties assigned by management

Qualifications
•  3 – 5 years’ experience in a similar environment such as a winery or beverage producer with direct experience with bottling and packaging
•  Associate degree or technical certification in equipment maintenance and repair preferred.
•  PLC (Programmable Logic Control) experience or understanding
•  Welding, machining, forklift, and safety training desired
•  Must have a basic understanding of 3 phase electricity
•  Familiar with OSHA, Hazmat, Hazcom, and Hazardous Waste regulations and able to follow company safety procedures
•  Experience and understanding of HVAC systems and alarm systems
•  Logical approach to problem solving, good mechanical and troubleshooting skills
•  Knowledge of machinery and equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, supply, and exhaust fans
•  Ability to use a variety of office equipment and be proficient with a computer including Outlook, Word, and Excel
•  Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in written form, including ability to resolve any conflicts calmly
•  Ability to collaborate constructively across departments with a diverse workforce
•  Experience with recordkeeping and program compliance and reporting
•  High attention to detail
•  This position may require a valid Driver’s License

Physical Requirements
•  Working conditions in some areas are cold, wet and slippery
•  Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis is a necessity as well as being on your feet all day
•  Some work is performed from extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, stairs and some of the equipment is on elevated platforms
•  Ability to bend/stoop, squat, kneel, reach/stretch, and move in a 90-degree fashion as needed
•  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Compensation / Benefits

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
FLSA Status: Full-Time Salary, Exempt
