Position Overview:

A distinguished, family-owned wine estate is seeking an experienced, hands-on technician to support the dependable operation of its buildings, equipment, and related systems. This position performs a broad range of preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, installations, and project work. The successful candidate will use sound technical judgment to identify root causes, resolve issues safely, and help minimize operational interruptions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Coordinate with coworkers, contractors, and service providers to complete assignments safely and efficiently.
•  Create, update, and close work orders in an electronic maintenance system, including documentation of findings, repairs, materials, and follow-up needs.
•  Support equipment installation, testing, start-up, modification, and relocation activities.
•  Properly handle, store, and dispose of maintenance materials in accordance with safety and environmental procedures.
•  Diagnose mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facility issues, determine root causes, and implement practical corrective action.
•  Track approved project purchases and submit supporting expense documentation in a timely manner.
•  Monitor the condition of building, climate-control, utility, and electrical control systems and recommend maintenance or repair when needed.
•  Assist with general improvement projects that may involve carpentry, painting, basic electrical work, plumbing, and equipment troubleshooting.
•  Respond promptly to urgent service needs and complete repairs with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
•  Maintain an appropriate inventory of commonly used parts, tools, and maintenance supplies; coordinate purchases within established guidelines.
•  Inspect motors, belts, pumps, controls, and related components; perform adjustments, lubrication, and replacement of worn or failed parts.
•  Provide general operational support and assist at other work locations when necessary.
•  Perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on buildings, equipment, and supporting systems.

Qualifications:

•  High school diploma or equivalent required; technical coursework, an associate degree, or completion of a recognized trade or craft program is preferred.
•  At least five years of progressively responsible experience in commercial, industrial, or facilities maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•  Working knowledge of mechanical systems, motors, pumps, belts, bearings, hand and power tools, and general repair practices.
•  Ability to understand basic electrical principles, read straightforward wiring diagrams, use a multimeter, and troubleshoot common single- and three-phase circuits within authorized scope.
•  General understanding of heating, cooling, and refrigeration components and the ability to assist with routine system checks and problem identification.
•  Ability to analyze equipment symptoms, identify likely causes, and determine safe, practical next steps.
•  Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with applicable workplace, environmental, and quality requirements.
•  Proficiency with common office applications and experience using an electronic work-order or maintenance-management platform.
•  Clear communication, strong organization, and the ability to adjust priorities and work effectively with limited supervision.
•  Availability to respond occasionally to time-sensitive needs outside the regular schedule.
•  Valid driver’s license and ability to satisfy applicable driving requirements.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

This position regularly involves:
•  Standing and walking for extended periods, as well as bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in confined or elevated areas.
•  Using stairs, ladders, hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment in accordance with established safety practices.
•  Working indoors and outdoors with exposure to changing temperatures, noise, dust, and common maintenance materials such as lubricants, paints, batteries, and solvents.
•  Wearing required personal protective equipment, which may include eye and hearing protection.
•  Responding occasionally to urgent needs outside normal hours.
•  Completing the physical tasks associated with hands-on maintenance work, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Salary range $32 - $38 per hour
