CELLAR ASSISTANT: KEEP HARVEST GOING IN ARIZONA

Good news: Arizona’s harvest isn’t ready to call it yet.

Arizona Stronghold Vineyards is looking for an energetic, detail-oriented Cellar Assistant to join our production team immediately in Camp Verde, Arizona.

We are a 20,000-case winery in the heart of northern Arizona’s Verde Valley, about 90 miles north of Phoenix. Our 50 plus acre estate vineyard is located near Willcox, and we also work with several other vineyards throughout Arizona. We produce a wide range of wines for Arizona Stronghold as well as several custom crush clients.

This is a full-time, hourly position with an immediate start. It’s a great fit for someone who just finished a harvest internship, wants more hands on experience, and isn’t quite ready to put away the cellar boots.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Harvest and Cellar Work

•  Clean and sanitize tanks, bins, presses, pumps, hoses, fittings and other winery equipment
•  Assist with receiving, weighing and processing fruit
•  Set up and operate the destemmer, press and other processing equipment under direction
•  Transfer juice, must and wine
•  Make additions to juice, must and wine as directed
•  Perform punch downs, pump overs and other cap management work
•  Assist with racking, blending, barreling down and topping
•  Clean, steam and prepare barrels for filling
•  Pull samples for laboratory analysis
•  Set up and assist with filtration
•  Help maintain, troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on cellar equipment
•  Keep the cellar clean, safe and organized

Bottling and General Winery Work

•  Assist with bottling preparation and bottling line operations
•  Move and organize case goods
•  Participate in production meetings
•  Help maintain shared work areas, including the break room and restrooms
•  Assist with winery events when needed
•  Take on the other glamorous duties that somehow always appear during harvest

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

•  Previous winery, cellar, production or harvest experience is preferred, but we will train the right person
•  High school diploma or GED
•  Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
•  Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
•  Ability to work on your feet in a wet, physical production environment
•  Willingness to work varying hours, including occasional nights and longer harvest shifts
•  Strong attention to detail and a willingness to clean. In a winery, cleaning is winemaking
•  Positive attitude, good communication and the ability to work as part of a small team

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

•  Compensation TBD based on experience. Knowing which end of the hose goes where certainly helps
•  Approximately 40 hours per week, with additional hours possible during harvest
