General Manager / Country Manager

Job Description:

Drive a strategic subsidiary, shape its integration, and pave the way for its U.S. expansion.
As the US General Manager you will lead the US subsidiary’s overall operations, drive its integration into the group, develop commercial activities, implement group tools and processes, and manage geographical expansion. The GM holds full P&L responsibility, oversees team performance, and ensures sustainable growth.
French language proficiency is required for this role, as the position involves daily communication with French speaking suppliers and partners.

Key Responsibilities

1. General Management & P&L Ownership
•  P&L Management — ensure profitability, cost control, revenue growth, and optimal ressource allocation.
•  Budget Management — build, monitor, and optimize the annual budget.
•  Group Reporting — implement group reportings

2. Subsidiary Integration into the Group
•  Deployment of Group Tools — ERP, HR & Marketing tools, logistics workflows, financial procedures.
•  Process Harmonization — align local operations with group standards (procurement, pricing, compliance, logistics,
finance).
•  Regulatory Compliance — oversee federal and state obligations (TTB, licensing, three-tier system).

3. Commercial Development & Growth
•  US Commercial Strategy — market penetration, client segmentation, prioritization of channels (on-trade, off-trade,
private clients).
•  Producer Portfolio Development — manage allocations, integrate new producers, coordinate with sourcing teams.
•  Geographical Expansion — evaluate and lead the opening of additional states
•  Strategic Partnerships — wholesalers, distributors, logistics partners.

4. Team Management & Organization
•  Local Team Leadership — recruitment, training, coaching, performance management.
•  Group Culture Development — ensure cultural alignment and strong communication with European teams.
•  Operations Oversight — supervise import flows, warehousing, distribution, customer service, and quality.

Required Skills

Professional Requirements:
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. A minimum of five years of fine-wine sales experience at the importer or supplier level is required.
French language proficiency is required for this role, as the position involves daily communication with French speaking suppliers and partners.

Technical Skills
•  Strong expertise in wine importation and distribution.
•  Solid understanding of US regulatory frameworks (TTB, licensing, three-tier system).
•  Proven experience in financial management and P&L ownership.
•  Ability to structure operational processes.
•  Demonstrated capability to develop markets and build commercial strategies.
