Bucher Vaslin is the leading supplier worldwide of premium winery equipment with an established reputation for superior quality and innovative design. Bucher Vaslin North America (“BVNA”) distributes and services all Bucher Vaslin products in North America including destemmers, pumps, presses, elevators, optical sorters and sorting tables as well as other products such as Cazaux pumps, Costral-Albagnac bottling and labelling lines, and Lamothe Abiet winemaking products.

To continue providing superior service to its customers, BVNA seeks to hire a Service Technician to perform a variety of activities that includes annual maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, repair and commissioning at wineries facilities and fruit processing across North America.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the delivery of service activities under the supervision of the Technical Manager with the goal to provide Bucher Vaslin customers with superior service and support while achieving the annual objectives of the Service department.

The Service Technician is a critical contributor to the Bucher Vaslin Service Team made up of lead technician, senior and junior field technicians, warehouse and parts coordinators. The Service Technician often interacts with customers at the customer site or via phone or email.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

•  Perform commissioning of Bucher Vaslin equipment at customer’s site
•  Demonstrate proper use of Bucher Vaslin equipment and train winery staff on proper operation of the machines
•  Perform pre-harvest maintenance on winery equipment
•  Troubleshoot and repair of customers’ equipment, including warranty work
•  Identify and maintain necessary tools and equipment procured by the company and ensure that tools and equipment are in excellent repair at all times
•  Provide complete and timely reporting on service work performed and maintain detailed maintenance records
•  Accurately manage own inventory of parts and reconcile periodically with company inventory records
•  Handle repairs or modification of machines at Bucher Vaslin facility when required
•  Provides good professional communication with customers at the highest level of customer satisfaction, with specific attention to resolving technical issues and operating errors
•  Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
•  Must be able to sit for extended periods, such as while driving to customer sites.
•  Must be able to walk, stand, and reach overhead on an extended basis, while servicing equipment.
•  Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Requires a valid driver’s license and must be insurable under the company’s insurance policy
•  Strong mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills in mechanical and electrical control components
•  Proficient in the use of computers and software, including MS Office, combined with ability to learn and master new applications
•  Minimum 3 years of general equipment maintenance experience in a similar field
•  Knowledgeable regarding current safety regulations
•  Ability to work autonomously, with good time management skills
•  Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues with a professional attitude
•  Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing, both internally and externally
•  Computer skills required to access and manage information and work on winery equipment that utilizes computer interface
•  Ability to interact professionally with a variety of people at all levels of organizations
•  Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to accuracy and detail
•  Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. French and Spanish language skills a plus
•  Prior experience in winery operations or maintenance preferred
•  May be required to occasionally work on weekends, during harvest for example
