Founded in 1972, Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant is an importer, retailer, wholesaler, and distributor of fine wine from France and Italy, headquartered in Berkeley, California. We exclusively sell our own imports from French and Italian winegrowers, purchasing wines direct from the domaines and focusing on small producers whose wines express the authentic style of their native region.
Role Summary:
Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant is exploring the addition of a part-time Sales Associate to our retail team at Marin Country Mart in Larkspur. We are looking for someone with wine sales and customer service experience who is interested in a consistent three-day schedule covering Friday through Sunday.
This is a customer-facing sales position and an integral part of the weekend retail team. The role involves helping customers select wines, developing familiarity with the Kermit Lynch portfolio, maintaining the sales floor, restocking inventory, and assisting with the day-to-day operation of the shop. This could be a great fit for someone who wants to stay actively involved in wine sales while working a consistent part-time schedule.
Responsibilities:
• Engage with customers to provide wine recommendations and information.
• Deliver an outstanding shopping experience by offering personalized service.
• Drive retail sales by effectively communicating the Kermit Lynch wine portfolio.
• Meet or exceed individual sales goals and contribute to overall store performance.
• Restock shelves and ensure that the sales floor remains fully stocked and organized.
• Assist with store opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and point-of-sale operations.
• Work closely with managers and team members to create a positive, productive environment.
• Participate in training sessions to expand knowledge of the Kermit Lynch wine portfolio and sales strategies.
• Handle wine deliveries, stock movement, and other physical tasks related to maintaining inventory and assisting customers.
Requirements:
• Wine sales and customer service experience
• Foundational knowledge of French and Italian wine
• Proven strong communication and organizational skills
• Working knowledge of Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and POS
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be consistently available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 AM - 6 PM
• French and/or Italian language proficiency a plus
Schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 10 AM - 6 PM
Compensation: $32-$36/hour, depending on experience
