Job Description:

ABOUT RIDEAU VINEYARD

Rideau Vineyard is a family-owned boutique winery in the Santa Ynez Valley, crafting acclaimed small-lot wines from our organically farmed estate and welcoming guests at our historic adobe tasting room. We run lean and we run proud: a small team where everyone owns their part of the business, thinks ahead, and makes things better rather than waiting to be told. If you like being trusted with real responsibility and seeing the direct result of your work, you will feel at home here.

THE ROLE

The Warehouse Lead owns the physical flow of our wine from post-bottling to the customer. You manage inventory across our tax-paid estate warehouse, our third-party tax-paid warehouse, and our tasting room; you keep the tasting room stocked; and you run the fulfillment of our wine club shipments, online and phone orders, and on-site pickups. It is a hands-on role for someone who is organized, precise, comfortable with systems (we run on Commerce7 and ship with FedEx), and able to rally a small crew when shipment week arrives.

Scale, so you know what you are stepping into: 6,000–10,000 cases a year, 30+ SKUs per vintage, roughly 1,600 orders a month, monthly club shipments with a large release every quarter.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Inventory & stock movement

* Receive finished wine after bottling; verify counts and condition; record receipts in Commerce7.
* Manage stock transfers between the third-party warehouse and our local warehouse; keep both locations accurate and audit-ready.
* Deliver wine orders to the tasting room several times a week and maintain tasting room stock levels.
* Own inventory accuracy at the warehouses and the tasting room: cycle counts, reconciliations, discrepancy follow-up, periodic physical inventory.

Wine club fulfillment

* Prepare monthly club shipments and the larger quarterly releases: plan quantities and packaging, stage product.
* Work hand in hand with the Wine Club Manager on timing, allocations, substitutions and member communications.
* Schedule and lead the temporary crew needed to pack and ship each release; set the pace, check quality, keep it safe.
* Run post-shipment follow-up: tracking, exceptions, returns, damaged or undeliverable packages, re-ships.

Orders & pickups

* Ship tasting room, website and phone orders via FedEx, on time and compliant.
* Create and manage customer pickups; maintain pickup inventory and make sure members collecting wine on site have a smooth experience.

Supplies & equipment

* Forecast and purchase shipping and pickup materials (boxes, inserts, ice packs, labels) so we are never short on release week.
* Keep the warehouse clean, organized and safe; operate the forklift.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

* 3+ years of inventory management experience (warehouse, fulfillment, shipping/receiving, or distribution).
* Winery, wine distribution, or DTC wine fulfillment experience is a strong plus.
* Forklift experience required; forklift certification is a plus, and Rideau provides certification on site.
* Comfortable with inventory and order systems; Commerce7 experience is a plus, and you learn new software quickly.
* Proven organization and attention to detail: you catch a miscount before it becomes a problem.
* Able to plan ahead, prioritize, and lead a small temporary crew during release weeks.
* Clear, reliable communicator with the tasting room, wine club, and estate teams.
* Available for a variable schedule, including weekends during club releases.
* Able to perform the essential physical functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation: lift and move cases up to 50 lbs repeatedly, stand and walk for extended periods, and work in a warehouse environment.
* Valid driver's license for deliveries between our sites (mileage reimbursed when using a personal vehicle).

WHY JOIN RIDEAU

* Competitive pay: $24.00–$28.85 per hour, DOE (about $50,000–$60,000 per year), with overtime paid per California law.
* Health insurance with 50% of the premium paid by Rideau.
* 401(k) plan.
* Complimentary wine and generous discounts on our wines.
* A family-owned winery that trusts its people, values initiative, and gives you real ownership of your area.
