Job Description:

Help Lead the Next Chapter of an Established Entrepreneurial Business

Sonoma Valley, California
Full-Time | Flexible Hybrid Schedule

Looking for More Than Just Another Management Job?

For more than 14 years, we've quietly built a successful specialty ecommerce and fulfillment business serving customers across the country. We've launched multiple brands, expanded into new markets, adapted to changing industries, and built a reputation for exceptional customer service and creative problem-solving.

We're intentionally small. There are no layers of management, no corporate bureaucracy, and no endless meetings. If something can make the business better, we're willing to try it.

Now we're looking for the right person to help lead its next chapter.

Not someone who's simply looking to manage operations, but someone who wants to become a trusted day-to-day operating partner in building and growing the business.

About the Role

This is a role for someone who enjoys variety. No two days are exactly alike.

Some mornings you may be helping a customer design a custom project or developing a proposal. That afternoon you might be receiving inventory, coordinating vendors, improving a workflow, or helping prepare shipments.

You'll work directly with the owner, gradually assuming greater responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the business while collaborating on larger decisions, new opportunities, and future growth.

For much of the year, you'll be the company's primary full-time employee, supported by seasonal fulfillment staff during our busiest shipping season.

If you enjoy solving problems, improving systems, building relationships, and making a visible impact every day, you'll probably enjoy this role.

What You'll Do
•  Lead the day-to-day operation as the primary point of contact for the business.
•  Manage customized customer orders from initial inquiry through fulfillment.
•  Coordinate inventory, purchasing, receiving, and logistics.
•  Maintain an organized and efficient warehouse.
•  Fulfill and ship orders.
•  Identify opportunities for new products, services, partnerships, and revenue growth.

What Will Help You Succeed

We're much more interested in how you think than checking off a list of technical skills.

You'll thrive in this role if you're naturally curious, self-directed, comfortable making thoughtful decisions, and genuinely enjoy making businesses run better. You take ownership, communicate well, and derive satisfaction from making things work better than they did yesterday.

You're comfortable using Microsoft Excel (or similar spreadsheet software) to organize, sort, validate, and manage large datasets without compromising data integrity. You don't need to be an Excel wizard, but accuracy matters.

Most importantly, you have a healthy respect for details. You instinctively double-check important work because you understand that small mistakes can have significant consequences for customers.

Experience in wine, direct-to-consumer ecommerce, hospitality, fulfillment, logistics, corporate gifting, specialty retail, or another entrepreneurial customer-focused business is highly valued.

Is This the Right Opportunity?

This role isn't for everyone. It's for someone who's ready for more ownership, broader responsibility, and the opportunity to help shape the future of an established business.

You're equally comfortable talking with customers, improving a process, organizing inventory, or jumping into fulfillment as orders need to be processed.

If you're looking for a narrowly defined corporate job, this isn't it. If you're excited by variety, ownership, and helping build the next chapter of a successful entrepreneurial business, we'd love to talk.

Schedule

Our workload is seasonal.

Outside of peak season, there's considerable flexibility in how the work gets done. We're more interested in results than watching the clock.

Our busiest period is October through December. During those months, customer commitments occasionally require extended days or weekend work to ensure projects are completed accurately and on time. We bring in additional seasonal staff as needed.

Compensation

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

The position also includes meaningful performance-based incentive opportunities tied to business growth, operational success, and long-term value creation.

How to Apply

Please submit:
•  Your résumé.
•  A cover letter explaining why this opportunity interests you.
•  Brief answers to the following questions:
1. What was it about this position that made you decide to apply?
2. Which part of this role do you think you'll enjoy the most, and why?
3. Describe something you've built, improved, or organized that you're particularly proud of. What made it meaningful to you?

We're far more interested in finding the right long-term fit than simply filling an open position. If you're looking for an opportunity where your judgment matters, your work has a visible impact, and every day brings a different challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
