About Us

Karah Estate Winery is looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Cellar Tech / Vineyard Tech to join our small team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and in the cellar, wants to build real production experience, and takes pride in doing the work right.

The Role

This role is primarily cellar-focused, with additional support to our vineyard manager as needed. You'll work closely with our consulting winemaker on day-to-day production tasks and take ownership of cellar operations with a good degree of independence.

This position reports directly to the consulting winemaker.

Responsibilities

Cellar (Primary Focus)

Assist with crush, pressing, punch-downs, and pump-overs
Perform barrel work: topping, racking, stirring, and general barrel maintenance
Operate forklift for cellar and warehouse tasks (moving barrels, bins, pallets, etc.)
Support cleaning and sanitation of tanks, hoses, pumps, and cellar equipment
Assist with bottling line setup and operation
Take basic measurements (Brix, pH, temperature) and record production data
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe cellar environment
Manage day-to-day cellar tasks independently with minimal oversight

Vineyard (Support Role)

Assist the vineyard manager as needed during key seasonal windows (e.g., harvest picks, occasional vineyard tasks)
Requirements
Cellar experience required
Forklift experience required
Vineyard experience not required
Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision
Comfortable with physical labor: lifting up to 50 lbs, standing/bending for extended periods
Available to work flexible hours, including some early mornings, weekends, and extended hours during harvest (typically August–October)
Reliable transportation to the winery
Must be 21+ (per alcohol handling requirements)
Schedule

Part-time, 20–30 hours/week outside of harvest, with increased hours expected during harvest season. Start date: ASAP.

Compensation

$23–$25/hour, depending on experience.
