Rack & Riddle Custom Wine Services, the #1 custom sparkling wine producer in the United States, is seeking to add a PM Mechanic II to our team

The Mechanic II role is designed for individuals with foundational mechanical experience who are ready to take on greater responsibility for maintaining and repairing bottling and facility equipment. Working with moderate supervision, this position involves independently performing routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting common mechanical issues, and operating a variety of production equipment such as fillers, conveyors, cappers, and labelers.

Mechanic II also supports facility upkeep and improvement projects, including basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work. This role requires solid mechanical aptitude, the ability to follow technical instructions, and strong organizational skills to help maintain equipment records and inventory. As an intermediate-level team member, the Mechanic II may assist in mentoring Mechanic I staff and contribute to improving maintenance processes and plant reliability.

This position is for a PM shift with a start time of 2:30pm.

Essential Responsibilities

•           Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment. Maintains maintenance logs and updates equipment records. Operates and maintains most bottling line equipment, including fillers, cappers, labelers, and other automated systems. 

•           Diagnoses and resolves common equipment malfunctions  on buildings, facilities and equipment.

•           Works on assigned projects; responds to urgent maintenance calls. 

•           Maintains equipment, equipment warranties and maintenance records.

•           Assists with installation and setup of equipment and systems.

•           Performs general mechanical work connected with various facilities projects such as welding, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, refrigeration and HVAC.

•           Follows blueprints, drawings and general instructions to plan and layout assignments.

•           Assembles/installs mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and systems such as production machinery/tools, conveyor systems, storage racks, tanks, facility equipment and the like. 

•           Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical equipment and systems requiring the isolation of the malfunction, disassembly of equipment and repair/replacement of bearings, gears, structural components etc. 

•           Performs preventive maintenance on equipment/mechanical systems. May perform non-certified welding, wiring and simple machining operations incidental to repair & maintenance tasks.

•           Drive company vehicles when required (between locations or to pickup parts).

•           Uses a wide variety of hand, power, and machine tools safely. 

•           Assists with general carpentry and moving of equipment, materials and furniture.

•           Follows shop safety practices and housekeeping practices.

•           Other duties, as assigned by management.

 

Requirements

The successful candidate’s background includes:

•           2-5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing/production environment. 

•           Demonstrated troubleshooting and repair skills. 

•           Basic mechanical skills and understanding of equipment maintenance. 

•           Comfortable performing maintenance tasks independently.

•           Proficiency in using computer-based systems for work order management and equipment monitoring. 

•           Understanding and adherence to safety procedures related to equipment operation and maintenance. 

•           Requires flexible schedule for shift changes and overtime - during harvest season. 

•           Required to possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

•           Requires knowledge of electrical, plumbing and carpentry tools, procedures and safety. 

•           Proficiency with tools and safety procedures.

•           Ability to work independently as well as in a team. 

•           High School Diploma or equivalent.

•           Keeps accurate, timely records and communicates well with peers and supervisors.

•           Ability to read error messages on machinery.

•           Reliable, safety-conscious, and solutions-focused.

 

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

•           Lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 50 pounds over short distances.

•           Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stretch, reach, grasp, crouch, turn, and kneel.
