Avennia at Harvest in Woodinville is more than a tasting room. It is a place where thoughtful wines and genuine human connection come together. We are seeking a Tasting Room Lead who wants to help lead a warm, professional team and build lasting relationships with guests who feel truly welcomed the moment they arrive.
This role will report to the Director of Hospitality and together with the Assistant Tasting Room Manager will work as a team to manage all TR operations, drive marketing efforts to increase traffic, and encourage club sign-ups through a superior and personalized guest experience.
This position is for 3 days/shifts per week, for a total of about 21 hours/week. Shifts will fall between 10:30am and 7:30pm. Weekend availability is required.
The following duties are those of a TR associate, with the additional duties and responsibilities of the Tasting Room Lead included after:
TR Associate
• Provide a welcoming and informative experience for guests
• Describe the wines and provide information about the estate vineyard, winery, winemaking process, and WA state wine regions
• Effectively promote and sell wine and club memberships
• Accurately process orders using POS system
• Assist in food prep and service of our small food menu
• Potential help with special events, tours, and tastings
• Assist in the general maintenance of tasting room (stocking, washing/polishing glassware, cleaning)
Tasting Room Lead
• Manage and provide leadership to associate staff to foster a productive, efficient, and positive work environment. Model the behavior expected from staff.
• Execute all opening and closing procedures on days worked.
- Opening - verify all supplies and wines are available prior to open.
- Check appointments, voicemail and any notes for the day.
- Closing – Sample out wines, final reports, ensure tasting room is clean and ready for the next day, and secure premises.
• During open hours
- Process and monitor daily orders and oversee all point of sale (POS) data. Capture and document all pertinent customer data in the customer record.
- For club members - verify credit cards, track club requests, keep customer notes that can assist in later outreach and marketing.
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean environment.
- Ensure Avennia policies are understood and followed by all staff.
- Make decisions when issues arise and handle issues in a respectful, consistent manner.
• Collaborate with DTC managers to improve operations, training, and customer service, with the goal of improving AOV in sales, club conversion and retention rates, and customer data capture.
• Additional responsibilities as needed, i.e., private tastings, offsite events, club release weekends, etc.
Qualifications:
• Experience in the hospitality/customer service industry, preferably in the WA wine industry
• Professional, personable, and welcoming
• Organized, with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and solve problems as they occur
• Ability to work independently and as member of a team
• Experience using Commerce7 POS is a plus, but not necessary
• MAST 12 permit required
• WA State Food Handlers Permit required
• Ability to lift 40lbs (case of wine)
