Job Description:

Reports To: Owner
Department: Sales
Territory: Northern California Wine Country (Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Lake County, and surrounding AVAs)
Employment Type: Commission-Only, 1099 Independent Contractor
Status: Performance-Based, Uncapped Earning Potential

ABOUT RECOOP BARRELS
We are a Sonoma County-based wine barrel cooperage offering wineries a better alternative to buying new barrels. We restore used barrels to like-new condition at up to 75% less than the cost of a new barrel. Wineries that work with us consistently tell us they wish they had found us sooner. It is an easy sell once a winemaker sees what they have been spending on new barrels.
ROLE PURPOSE
This role is designed for a wine industry sales professional who is already in front of winery buyers, winemakers, or cellar managers on a regular basis and wants to add a high-value, easy-to-sell product to their existing portfolio.
You do not need to build a territory from scratch. You need winery relationships, a professional reputation, and the ability to represent one more compelling product when you are already in the room. We handle fulfillment. You close the sale.
TERRITORY AND MARKET FOCUS
Primary territory is Northern California wine country, including Sonoma County, Napa Valley, Mendocino County, Lake County, and surrounding appellations. Candidates based in or actively calling on this territory are strongly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•  Add to Your Route Introduce our barrel services to wineries you are already visiting and calling on
•  Present the Value Case Show winery buyers and winemakers how much they can save per barrel versus buying new
•  Close Sales Qualify prospects, quote pricing, and close orders within your existing winery relationships
•  Hand Off for Fulfillment Hand off closed orders to our team for scheduling and delivery
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
Required
•  Active winery relationships with buyers, winemakers, or cellar staff in Northern California (this is the most important qualification)
•  Currently calling on wineries in a sales capacity, whether as a multi-line rep, a company representative who can carry additional lines, or a fully independent contractor
•  Understanding of winery operations and what drives purchasing decisions
•  Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing your own schedule and pipeline without daily oversight
Preferred
•  Background in wine industry supply sales: enological products, cooperage, winery equipment, packaging, or related categories
•  Experience as an independent multi-line sales representative or currently operating as one
•  Existing relationships with winery purchasing managers or production staff across multiple accounts
COMPENSATION
This is a 100% commission-based independent contractor (1099) position. No base salary or draw is provided. Commission is paid per barrel sold and fulfilled on a tiered monthly structure. The more you sell, the higher your per-barrel rate on every barrel that month.
Estimated annual earnings range from $30,000 to $120,000 based on volume. A single large winery account can represent significant barrel volume. Earning potential is uncapped. Full commission schedule provided upon interview.
Commission is earned upon receipt of full payment from the winery and paid within 15 days following month end.
HOW TO APPLY
Send a brief introduction describing what you currently sell, the wineries and regions you call on, and whether you have the flexibility to carry an additional product line. No formal resume required.
