About us

The wines in both the Somerston Estate and Priest Ranch portfolio are 100% estate-grown, produced, and bottled from our 1,682-acre property that is a combination of the historic Priest Ranch and Elder Valley. The Wine Specialist role is situated primarily at the Priest Ranch Tasting Room, the Estates' urban outpost located in downtown Yountville; however, regular travel to the Estate on Sage Canyon Road may be necessary.

About the role

A Priest Ranch Wine Specialist is a focused sales person that gives excellent customer service while getting to know the customer and assessing the possible sales opportunity to them. This means catering the experience to fit the needs and wants of any and each guest that comes through our doors. Whether they are first time wine tasters who need a comprehensive breakdown of how wine is made, or a veteran wine collector who has been coming to the Napa Valley for many years, or perhaps just a newlywed couple looking for an intimate atmosphere to share an experience and glass of wine, we are here to accommodate and to cater to the needs of each and every guest. As a Wine Specialist, you are expected to create a fun and energetic environment, while practicing safe and responsible beverage service.

Major responsibilities:
- Build, enhance and maintain long-term customer relationships.
- Provide the first line of information to the customer by greeting, directing and answering questions regarding our wines, merchandise, history and facilities.
- Host retail wine tastings that convey Priest Ranch brand image and lead to sales transactions and brand loyalty.
- Offer wine club program and encourage sign-ups in a captivating manner as to increase sales and build customer loyalty.
- Educate the guests about the wines, wine making techniques and winery information and history.
- Complete transactions accurately on point of sales system, including shipping orders, wine club and cash transactions.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws and address visitor complaints and resolve problems when needed.
- Meet/exceed monthly sales goals.
- Stock, organize and keep clean the employee's working environment.
- Other duties as required.

About you

- Must be 21 years of age.
- Exemplary customer service skills required.
- Two plus years of sales experience in a tasting room, restaurant or retail sales environment preferred.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to relay their knowledge of wines and wine production.
- Dynamic communication skills & positive attitude.
- Ability to offer product for purchase and maximize sales with other options for purchase.
- Ability to learn and execute point of sale computer software procedures.
- Must have a clean professional appearance and excel in intercommunications and interactions.
- Ability to start a project and carry through to successful implementation
- Knowledge of food and wine, the wine industry, Sonoma, Napa and Bay Area restaurants
- This position must be available to work weekends along with some holidays and evenings
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. (a case of wine)

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $22-26 per hour + Commission/Tips.
