At Bijou, we operate with a modern, agile mindset. We champion an entrepreneurial work culture that prioritizes job satisfaction, offering our team members the high level of autonomy, empowerment, and ownership required to truly shape the brand’s global future.
Role Description
We are seeking a senior, highly driven, and commercially minded individual to pioneer and accelerate our brand expansion across North America.
Operating remotely within the USA, this is a heavy-ownership role. You will have full nationwide accountability for the commercial success, strategic positioning, and P&L of the Bijou portfolio in North America. The ideal candidate will possess an extensive, pre-existing network across the US 3-tier system (importers, distributors, and key retail/on-premise buyers) and the entrepreneurial grit to turn relationships into sustainable, profitable distribution. Success in this role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, strong relationship management, and a passion for delivering results through people and partnerships.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Market Expansion
• National Ownership: Develop and execute the comprehensive US market entry and growth strategy to scale the Bijou portfolio throughout North America.
• Brand Building: Act as the face of Bijou in North America, driving brand awareness and positioning our Southern French portfolio as a category leader.
• P&L & Budget Management: Take full accountability for the North American P&L, managing trade spend, promotional budgets, and pricing structures to ensure profitable growth.
3-Tier & National Account Management
• Distributor Management: Build, navigate, and manage a robust distributor network. Partner closely with distributors to align on programming, execution, and inventory forecasting.
• Key Account Acquisition: Secure new listings and expand distribution footprint across regional and national retail chains, broad-market independent retail, and premium on-premise accounts.
• Joint Business Planning: Conduct regular market reviews and planning sessions with distributor partners to ensure Bijou remains a high-priority brand within their portfolios.
Execution, Data, & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize market data (depletions, depletion reports, and relevant syndicated data) to track performance, identify distribution gaps, and optimize sales strategies.
• Global Liaison: Work closely with our head office, marketing teams, and producers in France to align supply chain, compliance, product development, and marketing assets with US market needs.
About You (Qualifications & Experience)
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive wine sales experience in the US market, with a proven track record of managing distributor networks and securing major accounts.
• The Network: A strong, active, and relevant network of established relationships across the US 3-tier system (Distributors, National/Regional Chains, and key Independent accounts).
• Wine Expertise: A deep passion for wine is essential. A minimum qualification of WSET Level 3 (or equivalent industry experience) is required. Specialized knowledge of French wines (specifically Provence and Languedoc-Roussillon) is highly advantageous.
• Language Skills: Fluency in English is essential; professional proficiency in French is highly desirable.
• Business Acumen: Strong financial literacy, including experience managing trade spend, pricing calculations, margins, and forecasting.
• Mindset: A self-starter who thrives in an autonomous, remote environment. You take extreme ownership of your results, possess excellent communication skills, and bring a "hunter" mentality to sales.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
• Location: Remote (Based anywhere in the USA with proximity to a major airport hub).
• Travel: Ability to travel frequently in market with occasional visits to Europe.
• Requirements: Valid US driver’s license, ability to lift/carry wine samples (up to 40 lbs), and capability to work flexible hours across multiple time zones when connecting with the European team.
