Korbel Champagne Cellars is seeking a skilled and experienced Machinist to join our maintenance and engineering team at our Guerneville, CA winery. In this hands-on role, you will fabricate, repair, and maintain precision parts and custom equipment used in wine production processes (e.g., bottling lines, crushers, presses, conveyors, pumps, and specialized vineyard tools). You will operate both CNC and manual machinery to support efficient operations, minimize downtime, and contribute to innovative equipment solutions in a dynamic food/beverage manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up, program, and operate a Haas 3-axis CNC mill and Haas CNC lathe using G-code.
• Transfer and optimize programs, perform tool changes, and ensure high-quality surface finishes and tight tolerances.
• Use manual mills, lathes, grinders, and other shop equipment for repairs and custom fabrication.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences.
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on winery production equipment.
• Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to design and prototype custom parts or modifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while adhering to food safety, sanitation (e.g., GMP), and safety standards.
• Document work, track inventory of materials/tools, and recommend process improvements.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of professional machinist experience, with proven proficiency on CNC equipment.
• Strong experience running Haas 3-axis mills and Haas lathes via G-code programming and editing.
• Ability to operate manual mills and lathes effectively.
• Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Preferred Qualifications
• 3D modeling and design skills (highly desired).
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with focus in structural dynamics, motion design, mechanical engineering, or a related field (a plus).
• Experience in food/beverage, winery, or precision equipment maintenance.
• Familiarity with stainless steel fabrication and sanitary design principles relevant to wine production.
Software & Technical Skills (Preferred or Required)
• CAD/CAM Software: Proficiency in Autodesk Fusion 360 (strongly preferred for integrated CAD/CAM with Haas machines), SolidWorks, or Mastercam for 3D modeling, design, and generating toolpaths/G-code. youtube.com
• Additional experience with GibbsCAM, CAMWorks, or similar CAM software is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of Haas CNC controls and post-processors.

The hourly range for this position is $30-42 depending on experience.
