Company: Liberty Street Liquors
Location: Newburgh, NY (Hudson Valley)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay Rate: $20.00 – $22.00 / hour (Dependent on experience) + Commission for store reaching sales goals
About Us
Liberty Street Liquors is a steady, independent shop in the heart of Newburgh. We keep things entirely down-to-earth, balancing a great selection of classic, traditional wines with a heavy focus on low-intervention natural bottles and small-batch New York State producers. We aren't a pretentious boutique, and we aren't a frantic big-box warehouse either. We are just a solid local shop where everyday favorites sit right next to funky skin-contacts. As we look to grow our community footprint and expand our online sales, we’re ready to bring on a sharp, reliable Assistant Manager to help run daily operations and help drive our next chapter.
The ideal candidate will help us consistently maintain and exceed our weekly sales benchmark.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Sales & Outreach: Take ownership of meeting and exceeding our weekly retail sales goals. Actively pitch and expand our new catering menu to local events, businesses, and private parties.
Grow the Wine Club & Online Sales: Be the driving force behind expanding our digital footprint. You will actively sign up locals and regulars for our Wine Club, package and curate subscription drops, and help execute strategies to boost our overall e-commerce and online order volume.
Lead Weekly Tastings: Curate, set up, and lead our signature weekly tasting events every Thursday, driving customer engagement, education, and landing the bottle sales to match.
Multi-Platform Inventory Mastery: Ensure 100% data integrity across all digital and physical storefronts. You will audit and align our in-store Square POS inventory seamlessly with our website, Uber Eats, and Grubhub menus so online ordering is flawless.
Strategic Product Sourcing: Work hand-in-hand with the Buyer to shape our shelves. You won’t just be looking at basic local stats; you’ll have your finger on the pulse of what's actually exciting in the natural wine and NYS beverage scene. You'll track our current SKUs, spot holes in our inventory, and advise on high-turnover, cutting-edge bottles that bring fresh energy to the floor.
Day-to-Day Operations: Assist with opening/closing, merchandising, point-of-sale operations, and providing exceptional, unpretentious customer hospitality.
Qualifications
2+ years of retail wine/spirits experience, boutique hospitality, or tasting room management.
Solid, demonstrative knowledge of the natural wine landscape and New York State wine/cider regions.
High tech-literacy: Strong experience working with Square POS (or similar modern retail POS) and managing e-commerce platforms and delivery aggregators (Uber Eats, Grubhub).
Natural storyteller who loves engaging with the public, teaching, and converting tasting guests into loyal Wine Club members.
Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including mandatory Thursday afternoons/evenings for tastings and weekend shifts.
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs (cases of wine) regularly.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
