Who we are:
Aurora Vineyards is a small Willamette Valley producer focused on high quality Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot noir and Sparkling wine. We have 32 acres of vines planted to 9 varieties and supplement our estate offering with fruit sourced from Oregon and Washington. We are expecting an early and high-quality harvest.
Position duties:
•  Preparation and maintenance of all harvest equipment
•  Fruit sampling and maturity tracking
•  Cleaning and sanitation of equipment and facilities
•  Basic laboratory analysis such as pH, TA, brix
•  Fruit handling and processing
•  Fermentation management and monitoring
•  Tasting
•  Wine transfers and movements
•  Additions to juice and to fermentations
•  Forklift driving
Minimum Qualifications:
•  Be 18 years of age and be legally able to work in the US
•  Be capable of lifting and moving 50lbs
•  Ability and willingness to work flexible and extended hours in a variety of conditions
•  A passion for learning about wine
•  Great attention to detail
•  Reliable transport to and from work
•  Respect for others
•  A good sense of humor
Preferred Qualifications:
•  1 prior harvest or more
•  Forklift experience or certification
•  Some Spanish language
•  Formal education in Wine such as a certificate, degree or WSET diploma
•  Experience making sparkling wine
•  Prior laboratory experience
•  A good taste in music
Working conditions and Physical requirements:
This position involves prolonged exposure to a range of weather conditions, loud noises, toxic and hazardous chemicals, and working near potentially dangerous machinery. Appropriate personal protective equipment be provided and safety measurements will always be taken. Frequent walking, sitting, standing and lifting and moving up to 60 lbs. The position will begin mid-July to early August depending on need. Perks include learning a lot, free lunch and dinner from our chef, free wine, friends, a new experience, and hearing the winemaker swear when something breaks. Salary is determined on employment and commensurate with a combination of skills and experience.
