Position Summary:
Oakville Grocery, California's oldest continuously operating grocery store, is seeking a motivated and passionate culinary professional to join our team. This role focuses on delivering a high-quality, consistent guest experience primarily through wood-fired pizza production. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about food, driven to grow, and excited to be part of a historic, community-focused destination in Napa and Sonoma Wine Country.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Interaction & Food Service
• Greet every guest with warmth and a positive attitude
• Serve prepared food items with professionalism and attention to presentation
• Engage with customers to answer questions, make recommendations, and ensure satisfaction
• Maintain a guest-first mindset, even during busy or high-pressure times
• Ensure food is served promptly, safely, and at the highest quality standards
Pizza Preparation & Kitchen Support
• Prepare ingredients, pizzas, and food components under direction
• Keep prep and service areas clean, stocked, and organized
• Assist with opening and closing duties in the kitchen
• Collaborate with supervisors on new pizza offerings and ideas.
Teamwork & Communication
• Collaborate with kitchen and retail team members to deliver seamless service
• Communicate guest feedback and menu suggestions to managers and chefs
• Participate in training, tastings, and team events as required
Cleanliness & Safety
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols
• Keep all guest-facing areas clean and visually appealing
• Quickly respond to spills or hazards to ensure a safe environment
Additional Functions:
• Comply with all company safety policies, practices, and procedures. Participate in safety training and report all unsafe conditions or work practices.
• Participate in team efforts and perform additional duties as needed.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Work Environment
• Primarily outdoors. Short periods indoors while conducting food prep. Moderate noise levels typical of public space: music sound system, public conversations, telephones/cell phones, large groups.
Schedule and Travel Requirements
• Variable schedule: primarily a set schedule but may require weekends, periodic evenings, and/or periodic or seasonal overtime.
• Position does not normally require overnight travel.
• Hours assigned based on business needs, PT employees can expect 0-29+ hours per week.
