Job Description:

The Winemaker is responsible for the hands-on production of wine in a small winery operation. This role oversees all phases of winemaking from grape concentrate intake through fermentation, blending, and bottling while maintaining high standards of quality, sanitation, food safety, and efficiency. The Winemaker plays a key role in daily operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Support all aspects of winemaking operations including cellar, bottling, and quality testing protocols
Maintain quality of products in control of tanks, ensuring adherence to winemaking protocols and flavor consistency
Must be able to taste wine during various stages of the winemaking process.
Participates in tasting of products in fermenters, conduct sampling against current bottling blends and new proposed wines.
Conduct weekly tasting of inventory samples upon completion of lab analysis. To verify and maintain overall wine quality through different stages of winemaking process.
Perform sensory evaluation, blending, refining, and quality control processes
Assist with laboratory analysis, data collection, and reporting of results
Maintain accurate production records, assist with data entry and inventory control management
Ensure a clean, organized, and sanitized cellar environment
Manage wine inventory and assist with ordering supplies
Overseeing wine operations, including sanitation, maintenance, equipment upkeep, filtration, carbonation, and bottling.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor of Science, Chemistry, Food Science or related field. Enology experience or certifications highly desired.
Experience with both the practical and technical aspects of the winemaking process and general understanding winemaking regulatory requirements.
Experience in all aspects of fermentation, cellar work, and winemaking analysis preferred.
3+ years of cellar experience or similar position
Required to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos; to write correspondence and memos; to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees and managers in both English and Spanish.
Must understand and speak SPANISH

This position is based in Cidra, PUERTO RICO. Relocation assistance may be provided to qualified candidates, and the Company will support the relocation process to facilitate a seamless transition.
