Assistant Manager

Liberty Cellars

Paso Robles, CA

Apply

Job Description:

OUR COMPANY
Liberty Cellars is a boutique, small-production winery in Paso Robles dedicated to quality winemaking and enduring relationships with our growing customer base. We produce award-winning wines exclusively from our estate vineyard, planted in seven varieties and farmed using sustainable and regenerative practices. Our label celebrates the history and people of the American Revolution. While we’ve been making wine since 2014, we’ve only been selling directly to the public for a short time; we’re still building — thoughtfully, creatively, and with momentum.

THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an experienced Wine Business Professional to help guide the next phase of Liberty Cellars’ growth and on a track to be a General Manager. This wide-ranging position reports directly to ownership and encompasses leadership for sales, marketing, business development, and hospitality. Initially this position is aimed to be part time, 20-30 hour per week, and predominantly onsite with the potential to grow into a full time general manager role.
The scope spans strategy and execution across direct-to-consumer and wholesale channels and works directly with ownership. This position offers meaningful responsibility, creative influence, and the chance to contribute beyond traditional sales, marketing, and guest experience — including exposure to long-term strategic planning, winemaking, and farming. The environment is collaborative, hands-on, and without layers, with a shared focus on quality, authenticity, and growth.
This is an on-site position involving regular in-person engagement with ownership and customers, with potential for some of the work to be performed remotely.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Sales
- Identify, research, and pursue regional and national sales and marketing opportunities
- Maintain and grow direct-to-consumer sales, including wine club, tasting room, and online channels
- Identify and pursue wholesale relationships with restaurants, wine shops, and distributors
Marketing
- Execute and expand upon existing marketing plan
- Manage brand messaging across website, email, and social media
- Oversee wine club communications, releases, and member engagement
- Schedule out and implement promotions, seasonal campaigns, and special offers
- Contribute to sales materials, brand storytelling, and marketing collateral
On-Site & Events
- Support tasting room and guest experience, including in-person and virtual tastings
- Assist with winery events, tastings, and order fulfillment
- Elevate and consistently communicate the Liberty Cellars brand story

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE
You are a thoughtful, self-directed professional with at least three years direct wine industry experience. You combine strong commercial instincts with a genuine appreciation for fine wine and elevated hospitality. You’re equally comfortable engaging customers and working independently to move initiatives forward.
You bring organization, enthusiasm, follow-through, and attention to detail, along with the creativity and judgment required to represent a premium brand. You value quality over volume, authenticity over hype, and are motivated by building something enduring.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years experience in wine business; education in wine/viticulture, marketing, agriculture, or hospitality preferred
- Solid understanding of DTC, club, and wholesale wine sales channels
- Strong communication relationship-building skills
- Highly organized, proactive, comfortable working independently
- Detail-oriented, curious, quick learner, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to work weekends, some evenings, and events
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Adobe Creative Suite or Canva; social media
- Valid driver’s license; ability to lift wine cases as needed; 21+
- Plus: Interest in American History, particularly the Revolutionary War period
- Pluses: Experience with website development and CMS (Webflow); winery POS (Vinoshipper); and email platforms (MailChimp).
